  • Making Natural Gas Transportation a Reality [View article]
NGV's make sense for short-distance fleet operators with central refueling stations like the US postal service.
much of my driving is long distance (up to 900 mi/day) & a NGV is not suited to that need.
use of NG infrastructure in the "future hydrogen energy based economy" - be careful, consider that H2 leaks thru pinholes significantly faster than CH4 and there may be safety considerations here.

well we knew in 1973-1980 that we needed a comprehensive national energy policy but then in 1981 the idea got squashed for political reasons.

lots of food for thought here,

i wonder what hef has to say about shale-to-liquid hydrocarbons, i have not read the book.

production of H2 doesn't have to be dirty - use electrolysis.

i'm not too keen on use of hindenburg hydrogen in closed spaces.

molten-carbonate fuel cells can operate on compressed natural gas. i wouldn't want one in my automobile on the open highway, but a forklift in a restricted environment has possibilities.

  • Six Reasons for Cloudy Skies on the Solar Energy Industry [View article]
the standard-design nuke has been proposed for some time now, & if it happens would speed up the permitting process.

reprocessing of high-level spent fuel in the u.s died in the 1970's with the missing material @ the kerr-mcgee plant. why was karen silkwood murdered? she knew too much? have there been accidents @ the U.K. and japanese reprocessing facilities?

D2O moderated reactors burning thorium (or unenriched U) can be purchased from AECL.
