eBay Buyer Incentives Are Not a Good Bargain [View article]
I'll do it for a quarter. This once lovely fun place to buy and sell is now a nghtmare with rules changing what feels like daily. You have to get your wording exactly right or bang!! there you go , you have another alert, pick up enough and you're suspended. Not only have we got to say we accept (sorry prefer) paypal but now we HAVE to accept E Cheques as well. Which gives these lovely people 10 days after they buy it to say they're not paying for it and what does the seller get. Nothing, apart from the fees they've already had put on their account.I had an item removed, with an alert given for it. I then received an apology to say they had removed in in error, the alert is still there over two months later, they are "looking into it". Don't bother writing you'll get the same standard letter every time. Talk to the power sellers helpline? They do the same. Lots of promises but no action. I have over 8000 feedback and they are forcing me off ebay because of the charges. Buyers are fed up as well so I'll just have to take them with me.Is it me or are all the "helpers" like Stepford Wives? Irene

I agree , it's disgusting. What about people who don't have a lot of money and can't get a credit card and rely on cheques and postal orders? I have always let everybody bid and get a lot of first time and buyers with just a few feedback. We all had to start somewhere. Now these people cannot buy and my business that I've worked so hard to build up is going bust. Ebay used to be a great place. I'm in the UK by the way. The fees are a nightmare and as for the f/back system , I've never had so many evil disgusting threatening emails in my life since it changed. People also think it's a laugh to come in from a club drunk, buy up my "buy it now " goods with no intention of paying knowing they can't get bad f/back which ties them up for 16 days. I'm getting to dread turning my computer on. I'm disabled and can't go out to work. I've had enough of the robbing gits. Do they not know there's a recession on and more and more people are looking for a good bargain that they can pay cash for. They just don't get it. How long before Ebay is no more. What waste of a great idea.

At last, I'm not going mad , the same thing happens to me every month. Last month however, I was on holiday, received no new feedback for seven days and surpise, surprise, they still went down. I wrote many emails asking them how to explain how this was possible and after the few usual standard ones I said it is NOT possible to go down when I have sent no items out and received no new f/back as I stopped selling a week before I went. Eventually the night before billing , again still with no feedback my p&p went up from 5.7 to 6.1 just scraping in. I LOSE money on postage so unless everybody is wicked it is just a load of rubbish. I am in the UK by the way. It's terrible that you've got to hassle and hassle before you get a direct answer. My fees are about £500 a month.

I used to love selling on ebay. I'm disabled and can't go out to work. What started as trying to make a little money built itself up unto a nice little business to my delight. I'm now a powerseller with over 7600 feedback and sinking quickly. I can no longer afford the fees and it's actually costing me in the end so I shall have to leave as many others already have. A shame as it used to be really friendly place and I made some good friends, I'm stuck at home and can't go out to work, I desperately need to make some money. I live in the UK sell mostly Clarins beauty products which I buy from the US, does anybody know of anywhere else in the UK where I can sell ? Or even buy clarins. It's sad watching the slow death of what used to fill my days.
