  • 'One More Thing' About Apple [View article]
I think "bagholders" are those caught in a bull trap, and APPL's recent high wasn't a bull trap.
Buying high in Apple at $640 wasn't good short term unless you had a stop limit and didn't ride it to $555. Long term, $640 will be trumped.
I think the recent sell-off was a confluence of its high recent gains, the big funds re-aligning their portfolios, and all the negative press about the DOJ, Verizon and ATT iphone activations, hot ipads, etc causing more retail investors (like myself) to lock some profits. Apple was oversold and $555 was a steal. I picked up 100sh at an average of $571 myself and bought cheap calls Tuesday afternoon.
Rocco, I thought that the goal of investing was to choose good companies and cost average UP instead of doubling down on your losing choices by cost averaging DOWN.
Cull the losers. You can buy them back if and when they start acting like real winners.
As far as the earlier poster with the "Las Vegas" options plays with the life's savings, that's just foolish and I hope he's joking.

  • 5 Earnings Plays For The Week Of March 26-30 [View article]
Kim, I was considering a strangle on bby this week and found your article, which seems a better way to play their earnings. I was thinking of entering the trade Monday but what is your exit trigger? It sounds like you don't want to hold past earnings due to the drop in iv. Thanks for the insight!

  • Action film The Hunger Games (LGF) gathers $68.25M in domestic box office, the fifth-best single-day gross ever - and may get into Harry Potter finale territory before the weekend is out. (earlier: I, II)  [View news story]
He said take some profits, not dump it. I held and hopefully will benefit tomorrow. If sales were at expectations, I'd be in trouble. My bet for a blowout weekend will hopefully pay off.
