You are absolutely right. The sad thing is that most americans believe what they here or read. Unfortunately, with the exception of the Wall Street Journal, it's impossible to get the facts regarding issues. On top of this, the government keeps telling us that there is no inflation. If that is so, how come prices on almost everything have increased 20-50% Hope you will continue to make people aware of what's going on.
Unnecessary Confusion About the Cost of the Health Bills [View article]
When has any new government program ever come close to the cost that was estimated by some government agency. The answer - NEVER. If tey say it will cost 900 billion, figure it will really cost 2 - 3 times that and that is just in the beginning years.
AARP is a liberal organization, with a liberal agenda, that does not care what its members think. I have tried on many occasions to get information on how policies are established, So far, no success.
Increasing Taxes in the U.S.: Accepting the Inevitable [View article]
Are you crazy? Have you ever heard of government waste? Years ago, a commission reported all the areas where money could be saved if reduced or eliminated. What happened. NOTHING. If your income goes down, what do you do - you reduce expenditures.
Here's Why We Need a Tax on Oil Imports [View article]
I can't think of one valid reason to tax imported oil. In time the price of gasoline will rise to a point where many people can't afford it Our population stands at over 300 million and there are roughly 270 million cars & trucks. So all you have to do is wait till all the babies that have been born in the past 20 years to get a drivers license and a car. Imagine how much gas another 10 - 20 million cars will burn.
I don't agree. You really don't know what it will cost everyone and if it's like every other government program, it will be alot more than the estimates. I consider the proposal to be another government tax that if implemented would have very little impact on how clean our air is, nor do I believe it will impact climate change.
CBO Analysis of Kennedy Health Bill [View article]
The idea of a national health care program may have merit, but not when it includes transfer payments. it's the same policy that exists now in regards to taxes. If the government is going to offer free healthcare then the first thing it must do is insist that people live a healthy life style or they get no insurance. And everyone should pay somethings for coverage, the same as seniors who have medicare.
Obama's Spend, Tax and Borrow Policies Will Wreck the U.S. Economy [View article]
It's too bad that most Americans don;t realize what is happening. I hope you are able to spread the word to others so that they can act intelligently the next time they go to a voting booth.
Mortgage Cramdowns: A Disaster in the Making [View article]
I agree. It will be a disaster. Just imagine what it will do to the courts dockets that are already jammed, with waits to have a current case tried for as long as 2 years.
Federal Gas Tax Increase a Definite Possibility [View article]
I hope not. It's a dumb idea. In 2 - 3 years, gas prices will be back to where they were 6 months ago and the last thing we need is a tax that makes it more expensive
