i think you're dead wrong on point # 6. as the NYtimes pointed out, the country tacked right this year, just not far enought for romney. less folks voted, too. this tells me that a) obama doesn't have a mandate, and b) that romney didn't do enough to win over constitutional conservatives and libertarians. in other words, the tea party. in fact, he ignored and abused them at the convention. that's where he lost. instead of building a big tent, he shrunk it. as a result, not nearly enough tea party voters felt compelled to hold their noses for romney. running as the anti-obama was not enough to win.
