  • Solar Wafer Prices On the Rise Again? [View article]
How do you guys calculate the P/E? I got a P/E of 9 for this year.
First quarter they shipped about 41.8mw module has earning per share
    of $0.61.
Now they raised the guldens to 230mw to 260mw, plus the newly
    announced 14.9mw, with total
of 244.9mw to 274.9mw for this year 2008.

Simple math tells me that their P/E is with about 9 this year or even
    8.

    41.8mw/$0.61=244.9mw/X
    X=$3.57 for ESP this year.

  • Polysilicon-Based PV Manufacturers: Clarifying the Financial Issues [View article]
    My list is following:
    1) CSIQ
    2) ASTI (has 10 fold protential)
    3) ESLR
    4) SOLF
I believe CSIQ will have a P/E of 8 or less this year, I raised the guildens to 230mw to 260mw, and plus the 14.8mw just anounced yesterday. I am not sure they have taken their E-Module into account, if not, this is an amazing buy.

Also they expect to have 550mw in 2009, the CEO saying they have
strong demand from the customers into 2009, have presold significant amount.

  • A Look at Four Polysilicon-Based PV Manufacturers' Funding [View article]
"2. The reason these companies don’t make any money has nothing to do with their growth profile or cap-ex needs. They can’t make money simply because the competitive nature of the polysilicon-based PV industry (every Joe Schmo can manufacture the same type of panels and cells) and tight supply of polysilicon, has created a unique working capital situation where companies are forced to offer ever longer credit sales, while at the same time are forced to pay huge amounts of money upfront for raw materials. This lower level of actual cash receipts from customers, combined with an ever increasing amount of cash payable to suppliers (known as purchase obligations and also available in every 20-F) makes the business unprofitable. I see no reason why this working capital situation will change any time soon. Nor do any of the companies, as they all openly warn in their 20-F's."

So you are saying Q-Cell don't make money too as a silcon base company?

"Once again, you are mistaking my critique of several specific solar companies as an argument against the entire solar industry. I've never once mentioned anything negative about the entire solar industry. In fact I am very bullish on solar and I 100% agree that the solar industry presents some great investment opportunities, but I don't think the companies mentioned here are one of those opportunities."

Come on, CSIQ already pre-sold their Emodule into 2009, on the Q1 stating about 130mw, the E-module can compete with price and efficiency. ALSO CSIQ is seeing a very strong demand in 2009, and expecting 500-550wm in 2009 in conservative view.

Jack Yetiv, No way in the hell Trina will have $3.79 this year. I can bet on it. $0.51 times 4 equal $2.04 for the whole year 2008.

So Trina is another OVERPRICE stock just like First Solar, but first solar is 3 times cheaper for price per watt.

Jack,,,, Can you tell how you get the $3.79 for TSL earnings?

Q1 they earn $.51 per share, $.51X4= $2.04 per share for year 2008, and with
    P/E of 22.
