  • Bristol-Myers Squibb Is An Overvalued Company In Quite An Expensive Sector [View article]
MERCY ... this author sounds a lot like that Spokane woman at the NAACP ..
just because a bunch of data can rattle around the cranium does not mean
that anything coming out of the mouth will be either logical nor rational ...

  • Premarket Gainers / Losers as of 9:15 am [View news story]
as with any microcap stock , it doesn't take much for a big swing to
occur ... i really didn't think that the contract news was anything that
should have affected the stock price ..
could it have been some concern saw an opportunity to do a dump and
get a price , then shorts covered on the way back up ..
you have to admit that the volume explosion was very unusual on
    Tuesday ....
things could really get interesting as reports start to come in from
SID and next week AWE ..

  • Marijuana Firms Should Not Invest Scarce Economic Resources In U.S. Farmland [View article]
AND , a topic that i have not seen mentioned anywhere , but have
posted a number of times myself is :
THE BENEFIT TO MIDDLE CLASS AMERICA
let's not fool ourselves .. govt. figures are always suspect , there are
probably about 30 million regular tokers and another 30-40 million
    occasional tokers ..........
up until recently , a lid of good weed would run 350-400 bucks , take
that number down to 100 and what does anyone think will happen
to that other money ??? it will get spent ... lots of spending on
everything from cell phones to cars to tv's and you name it ...
plus , the flow of USD's out of the country will take a serious hit ...

the dive , which was AH yesterday was from something about KOPN getting
a contract .. i've been out and haven't had a chance to check that ,
but Emagins price recovered to positive AND on 330K + shares ..
regardless of what's going on with Kpin , volume like that sends a strong
    message ...
it's pretty much impossible to shake out the longs in Emagin , lately ,
traders have discovered the stock .. expect more volatility for a while ...
SID and AWE have the ihmd demo going on and something from
sixfifteen coming on 6/15 .. could be more Emagin business ... garce

  • FDA to hold public meeting on off-label drug promotion [View news story]
how about a little sanity here .. not everything that big business does or wants
    is necessarily bad ...
If anyone disagrees that the FDA is a govt organization ... stop reading .
If anyone disagrees that the FDA , in the fine tradition of govt. organizations
is highly bureaucratic ... stop reading ...
Loosening the regs on off label usage of drugs will serve to speed new cures
to market , will result in reduced costs to taxpayers as the FDA's involvement
will be minimized .. will result in enhanced financial results of the big
drug companies and increases in dividends and stock prices ...
reduction of government is a terrific idea ... the money that the FDA saves
from not having exhaustive reviews can be funneled to HCA till ... garce

  • IBM's Only Potential Upside Catalyst [View article]
wow ... it only took 20 years to get the div almost to where it was in 1991 !!!
Historically , IBM kept the div to 22-23% of cash flow ..
there is nothing here that indicates anything but farther declines ...
for now , the Cloud is a big target for IBM , far different from anything
else that they have done in the past , as there is already tons of
competition and much from very large companies with very deep products ..
Also , as opposed to any other products IBM has produced , the whole idea
of the Cloud is to reduces costs for companies ... it's not going to be a big
revenue generator as say system 360 or any of their hardware(save pcs') ..
the Cloud will be make software and data management cheaper and cheaper ..
Granted , IBM thinks that they are making progress in a huge opportunity ..
the cloud will mean tons of business for a lot of companies , but little
    pricing flexibility ..
This one is going to fumble around , until some group / individual brings
pressure to bear on the BOD to get off the dime , because Mary and her
Minions are not going to disappoint the board , but somebody with some
common sense needs to be at the helm .. g
Oh yeah ... an awful lot of investors have learned the IBM language and
knows that whatever pablum is coming out of Armonk , is the typical
wing and prayer that "the next thing we market will bring in hundreds of
    billions " ...
for the past 10 years , IBM has been like so many people in the early
20th century and their disdain for the "iron horse" ...

WOW ... I am so amazed , that in this day and age , the absolute tripe that

Weed farmers buying land ?? FOR WHAT ..
everybody grows indoors , controlled environment , guaranteed product , grow

  • Bristol-Myers Squibb: What To Expect In Q4 2014 And Beyond [View article]
    i've been wondering if
    1) opdivo is replacing yervoy
    2) they are one in the same ? maybe different apps ?
    3) both drugs have their own niche ?
    any help ?

  • Neutral Forecast For Bristol-Myers Squibb [View article]
Terrific analysis ... pretty much the same as all others ... just give a partial
    picture :
    1) 24% of revs coming from Europe , which is having a tough go economically.
    - OK , but Europe was ahead of the US in approving quite a few of
    BMY's drugs .
    - more US approvals will boost revs
    2) Oncology div .. Nivolumab, which is meant to be used for the treatment of advanced melanoma.
    - and now terrific results in lung cancer from Opdivo ...
sounds to be like somebody wants to beat the price down to load up .. eh ? garce

  • General Electric: Saying Goodbye To A Legacy Asset [View article]
Jeff Immelt has to be one of the most unfortunate CEO's ever .. a bit similar
    to IBM's John Akers ..
Jack Welsh stayed at his conglomerate party too long , got out just in time and
Immelt was faced with a mess ..
I originally bought GM back around '08 , held for month or so and bailed with
a small gain . Much of what i was looking at was GE to spinoff a ton of
marginal businesses , but that didn't look like it was forthcoming , then the
announcement of selling the app division , for $7 bil !! that was it for me ,
at that time , GE should have been satisfied with around $4 bil , when the
financial crisis hit , i put GE on the back burner ..
finally, conditions are ok , but not great to do the dirty , which Jeff is
now doing ... dumping a large part of the financial arm and the app division ..
As long as he can get the team to focus on core competencies , GE should
do very well going forward and has also pledged to keep growing the div ..
Bought back in last year , holding a bit and see if i can pick up some more
under 25 , plan to buy to 30 , then put new money elsewhere .. garce

  • General Electric: You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet [View article]
GE bank was ok , as long as it was used for customers buying GE goods /services , JW went way too far getting involved with mortgages and such , that was
never the intent of the financial arm ... GM overextended in the same manner ,
but companies like IBM did not and did not get hurt from their fincancial arm and
    recovered much quicker ...
best advice to any company .. "STICK WITH WHAT YOU KNOW " .. if you
have extra money and want to expand, then partner with an expert ... g

  • General Electric: You Ain't Seen Nothing Yet [View article]
NBCU SOLD .. Most of the financial facility getting sent off , plus
statements of holding only core competancies .. enough for me ..
I first bought in GE a few years ago around 39 , expecting that they
would be soon selling off the junk and getting back to pre Welsh basics ..
then it looked like Immelt was holding to status quo , i bailed with 10%
gain , then felt very lucky as the whole mess headed south . Kept watching ,
waiting to see if the right stuff would occur , i've been buying since
sept and will continue until the stock reaches 30 ...
GE can certainly regain juggernaut status , but they will have to stick
to the plan .... trains and planes engines , electric generation of all
types , nice medical niche , and getting involved with gas / oil ...
that's more than enough ... gotta get rid of small appliances and
    probably light bulbs too ..
there is some risk here , but not much , considering the potential
upside ... i just don't want to see them start to make electric
cars , or batteries ... later ... garce

yup , but what's the ratio ? how many shares of GE CAP can a GE
holder expect to get .. i understand that it's all price dependant of
some indicated date , but it would be nice to have a feel for how
    much we get ...
