Why Apple's iTouch Tablet Will Become Its Flagship Product [View article]
Great article, i think you connect the dots pretty well which makes it very plausible that apple will come out with a tablet.
The classic ipod was being phased out as it is with people flocking to the itouch. This is evident in the sales figure.
With the iphone revenues being recognized over a 8 quarter period and with a $99 entry point, assuming the tablet comes in Q4, the stock looks poised for a massive run-up in 2010. And Apple TV hasn't even caught on like it should yet.
Amazon to Buy Netflix? Microsoft Is a Much Better Guess as a Potential Acquirer [View article]
In order for Netflix to move to the next level, they're going to have to pay a higher price to get the new movie releases as streaming content. They can then come up with a new category for their customer, they already have unlimited 1 at a time, 2 at a time, etc. Have an unlimited new movie release for 29.99 or whatever, something to that affect. They already have the distribution with Tivo, a deal with Sony Bravia, and of course the Xbox 360. This would be the only way they can compete with cable PPV, etc.
Can Apple Remain the Unique Innovator It Was, Without Steve Jobs? [View article]
If you are long apple you shouldnt really have any concerns. @Jeremy - Apple has put themselves in a very favorable position. Cash is king. It would be wise to make smart buys not to just buy things for the sake of being bigger or to enter a new market. Microsoft is trying to buy their search engine woes and copy Apple's retail model. No comparison b/w the two.
Right now I have an Xbox 360 and a Netflix account but the streaming content is laggy and won't play correctly. As a result I'm stuck with using the postal service to get my dvds. I live in Long Island so its not like I live in the middle of the woods. I know many others that have experienced the same issue. Bandwidth will be problem for years to come. With that being said Netflix's business model has proven to be very effective and profitable. If and when bandwidth is expanded the real winners will be the cable companies and verizon who offer the bundle packages (i.e. cable, internet, phone)
Is Apple More Undervalued Than Other Tech Sector Stocks? [View article]
excellent article. andy is the best analyst when it comes to apple.
anon, i dont know how you can discount 25 billion in cash, growth company or not. as for rimm, a stock that i do like, there's simply no comparison to apple as apple sold more phones than them in the third quarter and rimm's advertising costs are gonna go way up just to compete with the iphones thus hurting their margins....and lets see them deliver a phone on the release date for a change too...
