'Fake Money' allows you the "freedom" to live in your domicile and transport yourself with your auto to your workplace which is equally leveraged in its pursuit of 'growth'...The world IS leveraged sir.

Perhaps Microsoft retail stores are a 'loss-leader' type strategy to aid in branding and general product education for layman consumers while also hoping to sway the crowds in any direction other than Apple. Partnering with Dell or HP to sell their computers will certainly offset part of the costs associated with this effort.
Whether you're short or long events WILL happen in the foreseeable future that will increase volatility and value perception in this stock specifically:
Sales Tax issue (probably lose that fight which will be a huge negative) Borders Bankruptcy (Huge positive) Free Shipping (will need to eventually raise the minimum from $25) Partnership with Netflix
This stock always seems a 'trade' to me whether short or long (I've been both).
