GM to Keep European Opel Unit (As a Result of Economic Reflation) [View article]
No, what happenned here is Fitz went to Papa Obama and said, Please Daddy, Please can I keep Opel? Remember nothing gets approved/sanctioned without approval of the owner of GM, the Federal Government.

This is similar to the Blockbuster/Redbox situation. I can pay four dollars a movie at blockbuster or rent from a Redbox Kiosk for one dollar. Just who is winning market share and who is closing brick and motar stores. Apple is Blockbuster in this analogy, I don't know who will be the next "Redbox".
No way Jeff Immelt is going to give up NBC which has become a mouthpiece for the Obama Administration. It works this way, NBC you say really nice things about us and all the bogus green technology money gets funnelled to General Electric. Just how many of Obama's committees is Jeff Immelt on?

GM and Chrysler did not go through a bankruptcy. They went through a Government sponsored restructuring don't kid yourself. Nothing has changed, the normal bankruptcy will come later. GMAC is a dog. If the Messiah doesn't get re-elected and somebody with common sense comes in all funding will get cut off.
Ford's Electric Car for 2011: One for the Masses? [View article]
Boy talk about lipstick on a pig. They pick the Ford Focus as the proto-type? I got one as a rental at Avis once and from that point on told the rental agent to remove that car from my profile. A truely terrible car. At least the Chevy Volt is somewhat stylish.

These waters are muddied but I want to point out the following. PGH was the only Canroy I owned that sent me a K-1 treating me as a member of the partnership. PWE showed up as ordinary dividends on my brokerage 1099 statement. So in effect they were not treated as a partnership for US taxpaying purposes. I think that is why Pengrowth is making the change. Here is the quote:
" ratifying an increase in withholding tax from 15 to 25 percent for partnership distributions".
PWE could be excluded. I may be wrong, I am not a CPA but come January 18th or so (when the dividend usually gets paid) we will know.

Could you provide the source for your statement of Canada increasing the dividend tax rate to 25% from 15% 01/01/2010? I can't seem to find it. Thanks
