The idea that millions of autoworkers will be unemployed is false. I worked for a unionized industry that went through the BK event and what it does is to make everything more efficient. Pay and benefits were slashed. Debt was cut and now the industry is more efficient.

BK is the cure for what ails them, not more handouts from the taxpayers.

Opportunity Staring Us in the Face

Some interesting thoughts, Jason. Measuring the market against projected earnings while still looking at past recessions isn't valid in this case. Credit has evaporated which will restrict growth on the supply side and the consumer is strapped on the demand side. Just as GE halved its dividend recently, we have to look at future growth with a look to the future, not the past.

I see a market with some bargains, but not ones that will appreciate in value near term.

The Contrast Between Blockbuster and Netflix

As an 8-year Netflix subscriber, I can promise you that I will only switch to online distributation when the picture quality rivals that of the then current hardcopy picture. I have no interest in watching movies on my computer screen when I have a 100" screen available.
