As a buyer and seller for several years, feedback has always been a touchy issue, however, there was somewhat of a balance and there was recourse. Now, if someone does not pay for an item they bid on and won, I can't leave them negative feedback, however they can leave ME negative feedback. Does this seem balanced?
Sure there were those few sellers who left retaliation feedback, but there are also just as many buyers who have unrealistic demands. I, personally, have always left feedback first as a seller, even on slow pays and had a 100% rating, until eBay retro'd my numbers to include a neutral from last year. (The buyers book was damaged in the mail and she hadn't purchased insurance. Had she contacted me first, I would have refunded her money as I have done for a couple of unsatisfied customers, but she left me a neutral instead.) I have always done what is needed to make it right. Anyway, now my rating is down almost a point for a neutral rating which, at the time I received it, was not supposed to count against you.
I agree with the article that eBay seems to be pushing the smaller sellers out - I am one that will be packing it in after my current listings end. Between high selling fees, postage increases and now, an asymetrical rating system, I just don't have the desire to give eBay any more of my money. It used to be fun and a bit of a thrill to list and see what happened, but not so much. Now it is just a pain. It will be interesting to see how eBay is doing in a year...

I'm a small time seller and due to pricing increases, postage rate jumps and growing lack of unique merchandise to attract buyers, as well as the ridiculous feedback system changes - I'm getting out. I wonder what would happen of several thousand people or more agreed with me?
