  • Stress Free Portfolio: Q1 2014 Results [View article]
You seem bent on taking on high risker in your portfolio. Do so, but not in your core portfolio - set up a "High Risk" portfolio, maybe 10% of your assets, and consider it as your "play money". Play till it's gone.

You're a smart person; don't let your recent success blind you.

    Good Luck!

I think interest rates aren't going anywhere soon. I just bought a 3.5% 7-year bond at a slight discount, and will hold to maturity. I'll sleep well tonight.

So what are you doing waiting for a "correction"? Just piling up the cash? I don't like to lose income by waiting to buy, so I'm usually fully invested in DRIP blue-chips. Personally, I don't care if the market is up or down, as long as those divys keep rolling in.

You hit the nail straight on!! I, too, don't give a hoot if the market is up or down, as long as my income is increasing every year. And by dripping half my holdings (I keep a 35% allocation in bonds for safety and stability, another % in non-dripped), I'm well on my way!

Now, my 3 kids may have a different opinion ....

  • Cautious Optimism The Order Of The Day For Altria [View article]
I just bought an e-cig, and I love it, though I still like a regular cig, too. My tobacco consumption is down some 50%.

Three of my co-workers bought an e-cig in the past week! What with the convenience, "health benefits" (no tar, carbon monoxide etc), hundreds of different flavors, and a ton of $$$-savings, I think this thing will take off faster than anyone expects!!

Looking to take a position in a pure-play like Vapor Corp....

  • Dividend Buy Of The Month: Target Corp. [View article]
44 positions in a portfolio worth $145K does seem like a lot, but I have 150 positions in a portfolio worth $3.5 million. Is that too many positions, too? I decided to create my own "S&P" commission-free Dripped index. With over $100K in investment income, and growing every month, do I care if the market is up or down? Actually, I like it down, as my income goes up even faster!

35% corporate bonds, 65% blue chip US and Canadian equities.

I sleep well, notwithstanding market gyrations (I did get a real scare in '08-'09 - tho' I never sold a single stock).
