  • Possible Outcomes of My Apple Purchase [View article]
Get a grip, people. All he did was show you how to make a nice profit even if AAPL doesn't move. And the trade involves BUYING the stock and profiting at the expense of other options traders. Covered call writing is a mainstream strategy which has been used by investors for a long time. If you don't like the facts of life here at AAPL, go try to make money in GE.

From the above referenced ACSI customer satisfaction survey: "...the survey was conducted before the arrival of the iPhone 3G and Apple's MobileMe debacle. How well, we wonder, will it hold up next time round?"

  • Apple: Fraying at the Edges? [View article]
Michael reminds me of my oldest son who comes home to visit once a year or so. We have no problems in the house until he arrives, then suddenly the toilet leaks, the shower valve sticks and the air conditioner blows hot air.

"Unacceptable -- folks who are trying to make statements to affect positive changes could also benefit from a little effort to polish their words in order to be most effective." - cattle rancher

Unacceptable, indeed. However, folks should try to 'effect' positive changes, not 'affect' them...

  • How Apple Stock Should Be Valued: P/FCF [View article]
Andy, I have a nagging question you can hopefully shed some light on. I think I understand the basic premise of Apple's accounting method that you have written about, and how it affects Apple's P/E, but Apple can't be the only company affected by Sarbanes Oxley. How is that law affecting other tech companies and why don't we hear anything about it? Are there any other major players whose numbers are affected in a manner similar to Apple's?

for Rob L: "I am thinking of selling my long positions pre November. I don't think I can risk an Obama White House increasing the Capital Gain."

Sell the stock of a lifetime so you MIGHT avoid higher taxes on the sale? That's like turning down a raise so you don't have to pay more taxes on the extra money, i.e. DUMB.

  • By How Much Will Apple 'Blow Away' Its 10M iPhone Target? [View article]
Mr. A: You "intend" to be a millionaire before Christmas? 9,170 shares of AAPL @ $186 per = $1,705,620. Unless you are way out on a margin limb, you have already exceeded your goal, and then some. Either that, or you are pulling our leg a little ;-)
