Outrage at Potential Bailout: A Letter to Forward to Congress [View article]
This is a well thought out essay, and serves as good refernece material. However, it is too long to send to most politicians. Can you prepare something shorter and more succinct, not more than one page?
Gold Stocks: Five Points to Remember [View article]
Well-written 'Big Picture' article, and also excellent comment by Frflyer. There is too much 'dog-eat-dog' capitalism in the US, and not enough of the 'humane' capitalism found in some European countries and Canada. Reforms are needed to ensure that work and savings of the middle and poor classes are not ravaged by inflation and wreckless politicians, while ensuring that hard-working individuals and entrepreneurs have opportunities to gain wealth.
Do any of the presidential candidates look like they will help improve the situation, and reduce the rapacious influence of the large banks and investment houses on our economy? Does it look as if McCain's policies could be an improvement over Bush's? Also, need to remember that improvements in our government policies have to come about from grassroots citizens' pressure--and many of them are undereducated about economics and social policies.

Well-written 'big-picture' article, and also excellent comment by Frflyer. The US needs to move away from the often dog-eat-dog capitalism, to a system where the middle and poor class have opportunity to improve their lives, and be assured that their savings and investments won't be ravaged by inflation and wreckless government policies. Some European countries and Canada seem to be good models.
Do any of the presidential candidates hold out real hope for economic and social improvement? How different would McCain's economic and social policies be from George Bush's? (It's a given, that much of the pressure and initiative for change has to come from the citizens themselves, who are often undereducated about economics and politics.)
