Is Microsoft Interested in Take Two? [View article]
Interesting article I think you may be on to something. I had wondered if Nintendo might grab take two for similar reasons imagine if Nintendo decided to introduce a high end console to graduate their base too. What better title than GTA to launch a hardcore gamer system. I don't know if Nintendo would have the cash to buy TAKE TWO but imagine the power of a merger. Nintendo knows that Sony is in big trouble if they came out with a high end console that utilized easier programming but could market it as a japanese company in japan they may knock Sony out in Japan and give microsoft a run for its money here in the USA. Also Nintendo could easily port their wii mote and nunchuck into a higher end machine.
I know thats just speculation and I too am looking for bidders for Take Two but its fun to dream isnt it!
Bush's New Drilling Proposal: Fixing a Hole [View article]
I think we should put the same spirit to work that fueled the rebuilding of the Los Angeles freeways after the earthquake. Those free ways were up in running in 8 months when everyone was saying it would take 3-5 years to do.
As for drilling not effecting prices I don't follow your logic. A large reason for the increase is futures prices. Futures will be reigned in when there is a tidal wave of American oil just over the horizon. In addition to that Just because the effect isn't instant doesn't mean we shouldn't persue it. That is like saying we shouldnt put money in a retirement accout because we won't be able to use it until we turn 55.
The biggest reason for drilling is it will direct billions of dollars currently going to opec back to America.
One other thing that is very important is we have to drill responsibly we have to respect the shorelines and wildlife of this country. If the oil companies screw this up they will face an angry population that just might lead to a nationalization of there assets and that would be terrible tragedy.
by the Way I'm a shareholder of Exxon and I have every confidence the cuirrent management can break out of there highly conservative investment strategy and take advantage of this once in a century opportunity to meet the needs of the American people.
Exxon Mobil Defeats the Rockefellers [View article]
Im a share holder of xom and I am very glad that Rex is sticking to his guns on this issue. Companies should do what they are best at. Rex has done a fantastic job of creating value for his shareholders and providing energy for our country and the world. If you would like to invest in wind power or solar energy sell some of your shares and do it. The bottom line is the Rockefellers and the Catholic associations are not interested in the health of xom they are interested in social responsibility which is admirable but is something that shouldn't be forced on a company. Anyone who has watched XOM manuever in this environment should be impressed with the top notch management that has continuously returned value to their shareholders. I expect the company to adjust rapidly when the next form of energy is discovered but for them to be expected to spend their profits in an effort to find a product to replace their golden goose seems silly to me. Even if a new form of energy were to appear today how many years would it take to remove all the gas using vehicles and replace all the gas stations around the world?
