A Russian Perspective on the Rise of the U.S. Dollar
Russia, what a basket case. Losing population every year,no export economy besides energy, outside of Moscow and St.Petersburg the infrastructure is just terrible, a government that is a criminal enterprise, an army that can only fight against tiny countries, no rules, no laws. If crude falls to $50, they will be back to 1998. The good news, Putin is worth 40 billion dollars.

Act Defensively, But Not from Fear
Roger, you are wrong, fear can be helpful, it made me go to 95% cash on 8/8, saved me a ton. Since 8/8 the S&P is down 30%

      Why Cramer Should Be Suspended
Cramer is a guy who made himself 100 million dollars trading. He is two things, a day trader( a good one you don't get stay on a trading desk at Goldman for long if you are not) and a bull trader. In 2007 if you took his advice you made really good money. 2008 he has destroyed his own portfolio on the street.com, holding stocks for big losses and shorting anything be liked would have been the best move. People like Cramer have made the stock market uninvestable . Look on Bloomberg and look at the video with Barton Biggs. The hedge funds have caused a generation of investors to give up on the market, let them trade against each other. Also, take note of the blow of the CEO of CHK yesterday, that margin call cost him 1 billion dollars.

While Street Yells 'Sell!' Lampert Buys Back 4% of Sears
I agree with capital pains. I don't know how Cramer made his 100 million but it is very clear he didn't do it by himself. All this talk about how smart these guys are, makes me wonder if they all went to Harvard with the Bear Stearns crowd. The smartest guys in the room?

The big thing to watch is Proposition 10 in CA. NG might really make it.

Hedge Fund Manager's Notebook: Blood on the Streets - Buy Russia
I hope some of you are young. You will see Russia self implode over the next 40 years. They are losing 700,000 folks every year. The population based studies agree on the fact that Russian population will be only
100 million in 40 years. We, the good old USA will be at 500 million. As for investing in Russia, if you like investing in a criminal enterprise (Putin and his friends own 50 billion dollars of Russian stocks) you are free to do so. I am married to Russian and have been to Russia 15 times. Outside of Moscow and St, Petersburg this country is in terrible shape.

Quanta Services: Piggybacking on the Alternative Energy Boom
I think you article misses the main point. PWR has a 70% share in high-end voltage projects and very limited competition. It's backlog will grow significantly higher in 08 and 09. The valuation is not high by any measure and the numbers are conservative.
