  • GILD, BIB, Others: How Worried Are Market-Makers About 'Government Pricing?' [View article]
Washington is once again trying to elbo their authority into this sector . In the case of GILDs Solvadi , it's a one and done treatment to cure Hep C . They have invested a fortune acquiring a company that had the base formula and spent loads on testing and perfecting this drug , how are they to recover their investment . Breakthrough treatments with potential to cure is worth the potential to cure vs transplant and HCC potential. I do not believe that Waxman and his crew will recognize the cost benefit of treatment at present pricing levels . To do so would be a disservice to the industry .

  • The Gilead Rebuttal [View article]
Go Gilead , Chronic HCV leads in many instances to Cirrossis , HCC and possibly liver transplant . If Solvadi + other drugs equal a cure for this dreadful virus than $1000 a day is noy unreasonable . Yes we all want affordable drugs but must also be sensitive to the costs that go into development. I believe Gilead has tens of billions invested in this drug and now needs to get a return on their investment so they can find solutions for other diseases and viruses. From what I have read about Gilead they have many such investigations in the pipeline long term there is plenty of room for growth and benefits to society as a whole .
