  • Will Meg Whitman Run for California Governor? [View article]
Poor California if they're actually foolish enough to consider Whitman.... she hired John Donahoe who is single handedly driving eBay into the ground.... need I say more about her judgement?

  • Amex, eBay, IBM Most Trusted for Privacy in 2008 [View article]
Are you kidding me! It's nuts to write that eBay and PayPal are trusted sites for privacy. Between eBay and PayPal there are more fake emails, mismanaged funds, stolen funds and billing errors than one can believe. eBay and PayPal can't be trusted to manage a kid's savings account never mind the trust and privacy of millions of users. eBay and PayPal appear to have a concerted plan to STEAL funds from PayPal accounts through holding funds because their system can't detect fraudulent payments on the front end. Under Donahue's leadership, eBay has developed into a site riddled with security issues amongst other problems. To even allude that consumers are 'safe' on eBay's site is lunacy. eBay and PayPal need new leadership and their systems need a complete overhaul before they could be considered safe. Meanwhile every consumer should be aware that dealing with eBay is like dealing with a THIEF - they'll rob you every chance they get!!!

  • 2008: The Year eBay Lost Its Mojo [View article]
Thanks for posting a wonderful article about the downfall of eBay during 2008. eBay has driven buyers and sellers alike off their site this year and towards more friendly sites such as Amazon, Etsy and eCrater. eBay's blatant theft of seller's funds through their required payment source, PayPal, is likely to continue to erode their seller base when combined with their idiotic fee structure. For the priviledge of pages loading slowly, lack of security from PayPal, and low sales prices, Sellers can get pay eBay obnoxious fees (which are always inaccurate in their favor). eBay deserves every lawsuit that they've gotten and more. Under Donahue's leadership they've developed a thought process that they're above the law and can thumb their nose at anyone and everyone. Hopefully people continue to thumb their nose at them and take their business elsewhere!

  • Is eBay's Strategy Working? [View article]
eBay is a lawsuit waiting to happen. Their galling behavior in taking funds out of seller's PayPal accounts after seller's have shipped products is a class action suit in the making. With some regularity, PayPal simply reverses payments to eBay sellers because their system is unable to ensure safe payments on the front end. So eBay checks their payments days later and lets sellers know that they made a mistake. I'm certain that before long, a class action suit will be filed by sellers regarding the unlawful holding of sellers funds. When eBay determined that their online payment system was the only 'safe' sytem, they also took on the responsibility of ensuring that once they told a seller that they had been paid, that the payment was in fact good. A company that takes out their sloppy finance practices on small sellers should be ashamed of itself.

  • eBay's Looming Identity Crisis [View article]
Buyers and sellers will continue to search for alternative buying locations until eBay is able to compete effectively with other sites. Since January, sellers have been hit with higher fees, reduced search visability, hassles from PayPal, and a broken feedback system. eBay is attempting to force sellers to offer free shipping; a flawed idea in that to do that sellers must pay a higher listing insertion fee and higher closing fees. If eBay seriously expects sellers to move to free shipping, their platform needs to be changed to include free listing so that sellers can adjust the initial price without incurring higher expenses. Buyers can't locate what they want on eBay thanks to best match and limits placed by eBay on the number of items that they'll display from individual sellers. In addition to the buyers that have previously supported eBay many buyers were also sellers. Their dissatisfaction with eBay policies has caused them to leave the site both as a buyer and as a seller. Other sites such as Amazon, eCrater and Google are actively courting sellers and buyers with friendly business practices. Until eBay can find a way to convince sellers and buyers alike that they're the fun, 'bargain' site that they once were, I would expect that their sales will continue to decline.
