Same day shipping or 2 day shipping? I'd guess same day.

Again, we don't yet know the price point for Google's service, so my argument could soon be moot. But as of now its FREE, so even the biggest Amazon fanboy would be crazy not to try Google. They can afford to burn a little money in order to hijack market share.
I read your article, and we essentially agree that Google won't profit immediately. But they will get more data out of it, and if the succeed in taking even 20% of the market share from Amazon, and then sustain that after they begin to charge for shipping, I'd say that's a win. It weakens Amazon, but more importantly, strengthens Google's data cache, and improves search.

I'm a fan of Archive's site, but I doubt it would do much in the way of helping Yahoo's search dreams. I think it comes down to the search algorithm, execution, and simplicity. You're probably right about Google's overtinkering of late.

In regard to your comment that there is too much going on at Yahoo's site... where would they be without that content? That content is what's keeping them alive and humming as a top 5 traffic'd website right now. You might be right, but again, its a necessary part of their network/"portal" and could be a double edged sword- a sword that they cannot live without for the foreseeable future.
