Volatility Traders: Don't Get Ahead Of Yourselves [View article]
ha vix head & shoulders? have been trading vol for quite a long time and NEVER have we used charts or patterns in regards to vix futures, the key is sentiment, you cannot chart fear, optimism or complacency. The sale price the author referenced would seem ridiculous for those playing long the vix, it just bottomed again on tues and wed, look for volatility to increase not sell off over the next few weeks
UPL nuff said, best Nat Gas play and safest, SD more speculative but as with that more ooomph if NG does rise, which I am sure it will. The question is when , two much upside not to take a long position, cleaner and cheaper and not imported, when the tide does turn for Nat Gas there will be quite a bit of upside, forget 3.00 it five years it could be 5. The only thing holding this commodity back is govt and the switch by all the major utility companies is turning heads, they will get behind it sooner than later.
Hong Kong (-2.3%), Japan (-2.5%), and Australia (-1.5%) fall sharply in Monday trade - we'll call about half the decline a catch-up to Friday's big drop in the West, and half a knee-jerk reaction to today's election results in Europe. S&P futures -1.1%. Crude continues to slide, tacking another 2.3% onto Friday's 4% dive. WTI fetches $96.27/barrel, about $10 less than last Tuesday afternoon. [View news story]

Possibly contributing to today's weakness in Apple (AAPL -2.5%) is another cautious note from Wedge Partners' Brian Blair (previous), who argues FQ2 iPad expectations are too high. Blair believes just 11M iPads were sold in FQ2, well below a consensus of 13M. He also worries iPhone sales (the majority of Apple's gross profit) could disappoint if estimates rise further. How The VIX ETN Lost 50% In 48 Hours [View article]
How thetvix lost its value is that CS leaked word of issuance of new shares only to select few at around 11:15 am, they started to short it and just like the old commercial they told one person andthey told one person........ i am an investor who was burned by the information that was leaked (a full seven hours prior to Bloomberg reporting that they were going to issue more shares) that caused the short selling of the TVIX. I also hold brokerage accounts at Credit-Suisse as well as Fidelity and T. Rowe Price. I have just begun to have thoughts of organizing a group of investors to be part of litigation against CS who also were victims of CS’s ineptitude in regards to this . Any help would be appreciated
