short munis and state bonds with weak fundamentals: in the rust belt and in areas with huge home price depreciation. as tax receipts go down, states will begin to lay off workers and will have to cut spending. all construction companies and pizza chains will suffer from this.

  • Self-Evident Commodity Truths [View article]
and the 20 year return on high yeild bonds and real estate is not much better than 5%. and equities in the past 10 years are at break even. if you dont adjust cyclically your portfolio you will be barely keeping with inflation (reported, not actual).

diversification is way of averging your return: like a football team with few highly paid stars and a bunch of rookies to bring the payroll down. it helps the uneducated and unsophisticated investor, and is a drag to investors who can play both the long and short side of the asset classes they specialize in.

People in the streets?!?! Be serious. It will take 1 tank of gas to gather a few folks that have any idea what you are talking about, and another one to drive to the capitol at least.

  • The Reverse Wealth Effect [View article]
great article! the theory of capitalism is based on the creation of capital and stockpiles of money do not constitute capital. so are the current u.s./u.k. run more or less like the already defunct soviet socialist republics? yes. and there can't be any inflation-wage spiral as the lack of production resources in the above countries leaves the emolyees powerless before the threat of outsourcing even in healthcare. gloomy future indeed.
