it's called peak profit margins gary. P/S does matter. take the ear muffs and blinders off. this cautious investor bought jnj when it was in the midst of mfg misfits and recalls and after the 10 year p/e compression. Now the p/e is expanding to fair to slightly overvalued territory.
Agree with WSD that there was better values in 2000. Old economy vs new economy fantasy valuation stocks.

Funny how Jeff picks near the low price point for gold in year 2000 after 1990's and 1980's when gold was priced mostly higher.
Healthcare insurance premiums are up over 3 times since 2000.
All assets get overpriced and then underperform over periods of time. All assets can get undervalued at some point and outperform over periods of time.

gold was stuck in a 300-400 range going back a couple of decades. why pick year 2000 price?
my own observation is that the price things like cars houses up 5 to 6 times since 1980.
Complacency very thick on this board. Interest rates, inflation never go up.

oils fair price is about $60? based on what?

<I was able to determine that a fair US Federal Debt is actually around $8 trillion dollars and not that inflated $17.5+ trillion that is reported.>
What? Oh so intra-governmental debts do not count. Sorry social security recipients your TRUST bonds no longer pay interest. Time for a haircut of 35% to ur bennies. Yep.
Alot of distorted fairy tales being promoted here. Everything is just wonderful as Yellin pumps the E-button daily to consume some more debts.

Unemployment is heading toward "Normal levls???? Do u look below the surface what is really happening.

All in sustaining costs for goldminers is $700? what hat u pull that out of?

At $800 an ounce there would be a huge number of uneconomic mines and bankruptcies galore across the precious metal/mining sector.
On an Oil to gold basis the price of gold is getting close to being undervalued.
