  • eBay Still Hazy [View article]
I KNOW you must be an eBay power seller and a frequent buyer on the site since you feel qualified to post the following paragraph:

"On the positive side, eBay did make several significant advances during the quarter. The site is easier and safer to use, and a modified pricing structure and incentives for sellers have improved the value and selection offered to buyers. The company rebalanced its pricing by migrating from insertion fees to final value fees, offered free gallery photos in the U.S. and the U.K., rewarded sellers who provided the best buyer experience, and also offered sales ratings-based discounts to qualified power sellers. "

Please post your power seller user ID and if you have one, your buyer ID to support the above claims. You're not entitled to state that the site is "easier and safer to use" unless you can provide proof. Please give us your positive experiences regarding how Best Match, the new fee structure, feedback changes, DSR ratings, etc. have improved both YOUR seller and buyer experiences on eBay.

  • eBay is Listening [View article]
Here's Scot Wingo again, attempting to be a spinmaster. ANYone with ANY intelligence can see he's a horrible at it:

First, neutral has never = negative. The fact that eBay tried to defy logic by making it appear that it did doesn't matter. So thanks eBay for the teeny tiny chip in your supreme arrogance.

Second, did I miss something? Are sellers now allowed to leave feedback apropos to the situation, be it positive, neutal or negative? Scot states that Mutual Feedback Withdrawal will be reinstated in the fall. "Mutual" means both parties to the feedback have the chance to withdraw feedback. All I see is that buyers will be able to CHANGE the feedback that they left for the seller.

Call it like it is, the MFW process as it once was is NOT being reinstated.

  • eBay Asked to Pay $63M in Fraudulent Merchant Suit [View article]
What's interesting is the fact that eBay provides buyers with sponsored links to websites selling fake LV bags, Nike shoes etc. They say they've done so much to combat fake items being listed on the site yet they are willing to take money from other websites selling fake goods. If you do a search for a Louis Vuitton bag on eBay UK sponsored links at the bottom of the page will take you to sites selling fake product from China. Wow, the hypocrisy never ends.

  • Q2 Predictions for eBay Business Segments [View article]
"Analysts expect EBAY listings grew by over 25% Y/Y in Q2 driven by lower listing fees." Should read Analysts expect EBAY listings grew by over 25% Y/Y in Q2 driven by Buy.com.

  • Stifel Upgrades eBay to Buy [View article]
Wow! Only a fool ready to part ways with his money would invest in eBay right now. Evidently the days of innovation are over although John Donahue would have analysts and investors think otherwise. Trying to copycat existing fixed-price venues is the opposite of innovation. eBay in its present form is a heavy-handed, sluggish marketplace that seems to have turned its back on the things-the innovation-that made it so unique. Best Match is cited as one of the improvements that better the buyer experience; its so sad that eBay executives and clueless stock analysts don't see it as the failure it actually is. And isn't it a bit premature to upgrade to buy? Devitt states "if eBay can increase activity with customers that already use the product, it can win in a big way." Hello?? It hasn't happened yet; buyers aren't returning, buyers are purchasing less and new buyer activity isn't being generated in any real volume. Somebody's trying to pull a fast one!

  • eBay Feedback Changes Getting Negative Feedback [View article]
Hello, my name is xebayaddict and this month I will no longer be an ebay power seller. I only use ebay now as an advertising venue to direct potential customers to my web shop. I'm aware of all of the above; it's tacky and incomplete. There is NO WAY a non-paying bidder should be able to leave any feedback; it makes no sense whatsoever. I also don't believe that retoactive neutrals should have been counted as negatives. I had a 100% feedback score until my 1 neutral was factored into my score. This process was a direct punch in the gut to ebay sellers. I've never had any of my listings cancelled by ebay until last week. I had five cancelled due to a link I had to my About Me page which in turn linked to my off ebay shop. So my About Me page was in violation also. I'm a teeny seller compared to seller buy (buy.com) yet buy has numerous special store pages that are virtually lifted verbatim from their website. Their gift registry, digital downloads, website awards, BUYMUSIC, etc are all discussed on their ebay pages. Guess their sweetheart deal included essentially importing their website to ebay.
