  • Apple: Does Size Matter? [View article]

but this is what we are debating, the share buy back has not improved the pe ratio and the stock is still at 120

it's been a transfer cash ( debt in this case , as the cash is off shore ) for less outstanding shares

but the nett result has not been an increase in pe to 18 , no it is still at 14, why is that, i believe it is because of Apple sheer market cap , what else can it be ? it is not the earnings, Apple is the best money machine on the Globe

so it must be that this transfer cash for less stock ( the buy back program ) is not as effective, I say if Apple would pay a special dividend and reduce that mountain of cash from 203 bio to say 65 bio , , so assume that would result after tax in a net distribution of 100 bio ( after tax) in dividend ie 15 $ a share , to take a round number
I say Apple would still trade at 120, so the pe improves from 14 to 18 inline with the sector.

you have 5,5 bio outstanding shares at 120 is a market cap of 660 mio
earnings of 37,5 bio a year is a pe of roughly 18 conform the market sector and Apple still trades at 120$
and we pocketed 15 $ of special dividend.

tell me where am i wrong ?

    Arnie, i am not convinced
the best buyer of Apple stock has been Apple and what good does all that share buying do for us share holders, plse explain

are you telling me that without that buying Apple would trade below a 100$ ?
is this where we are at ? a 50 bio buy back program in the works and we can hardly hold the 120 $ at a pe of 14 ?

what is Apple doing with these shares they are buying are they going into the shredder or do they end up in some bonus pool ?

how much freaking buying does Apple have to do to get it at 200 $, they got to bloody delist the company.

I think Apple should just pay the taxes, repatriate the monies and pay out a hefty special dividend to its share holders

you will see that the stock will hardly move , that cash is perceived a burden , it gives Apple a total unjust and very low p/e of 14

Apple with its earning track record deserves at least to trade at 18 X earnings, so if the market will not reward Apple's stock price fairly, Apple should do it themselves, handout the majority of that cash to your shareholders and you will trade at 18 X earnings
result: the share price will still be at 120$ and we all share in a 100 bio $ special dividend, that's 15 $ a share

there you have your 135 $ stock price equivalent, but the good news is we have 15 $ in the bank and 120 $ in the stock.
it is also from a risk/reward point of view more sensible, why should Apple keep on buying their own stock ?, that's adding risk, I am not saying it is risky, i say it is adding risk, why do it ?
it may not suit key personnel and management whom are rewarded because of option bonus share schemes maturing at certain strike prices the stock will have to be , so adjust those accordingly.
Apple is a phenomenal company and Cook and his team are doing a tremendous job for the Apple enterprise, but if you compare how well Apple is doing as a business and you look at the performance of the share price compared to that phenomenal job, we need a Bezos next to Cook doing the numbers.

not really, if Apple " the holding company " retains 50% of all " the newco's " which they would float it would actually have the same effect as a share split, but they would extract far more value out of the stock price , next time around when and if Apple ever trades close to 200$ , this may well be their option.

would be absolutely fantastic to all long holders, you can as such decide if you want to invest in more growth within Apple's division ie more risk, or if you opt to invest in a safer vehicle, ie more dividend

Apple's sheer magnitude and expansion plans may suit us investors very well if such a plan would be considered.
just imagine a huge tech conglomerate moving into health, transport, security and you may opt what your personal preference is and that all under Apple's roof. , phenomenal !
you may reduce or add, but in the end you have to own some Apple, so exciting what these guys are doing, best think-tank in the world.

anyway there is always a solution for too big, if Apple splits the company in 4 divisions , floats them separately , the sum of all parts will hit 1 trio on the opening bell.

    good paper, thank you

Apple is like the stock exchange, it's so huge, that it attracts all kind of investors, long term, short term, Traders, punters and so on, as such Apple is not simply a buy and hold stock to all, it is to most, but not all and even that 40% that trades the stock is so big in numbers that it moves the stock, this is always the question when you decide to split the stock, you increase the volume of shares big time, but this is no worry for the long term, it just makes a stock more volatile and that's what we are witnessing with Apple.

Apple needs because of its massive size to retrace, it needs to create fresh buying power, but the momentum is unchanged, the stock is in a solid uptrend, earnings are very solid and it is the best money machine on the Globe, they continue to diversify and build the worlds prime tech conglomerate, it just takes time that's all 150$ is Apple's fair value, it will get there in 12 months, in the meantime let's hope that Cook ups the dividend, good stock to own.

  • Apple: Fiscal 2015 Was OK, But Fiscal 2016 Shaping Up To Be A Better Year [View article]
Well you kept on upping your price target after each bullish report for months and now you reversed completely

You are letting the price movement dictate the tone of your paper
Most Authors are like fortune tellers and no better than the analysts you are all bullying the stock to the level of insanity, writing it up to the moon, that does no favors to any investors, it just creates a hype.
Too many papers by too many Authors and too many predications

Without all this, Apple would be trading at 150 USD for fair value

  • BlackBerry -4.9%; Chen talks turnaround, potential smartphone pullback [View news story]

Chen is talking the stock down, now we have to be on our guards, Prem may well become a predator to the small share holders, he will clean us out at the bottom, he may well be preparing to delist the company , break it up and sell it out.

that's his damage control, what about us ? well we are about to be been taken over a barrel.

well i did poor and than very well, made it all back and some more and just as i thought they were going to sell the biz, I got back in at 9,50

i will be lucky to break even on this latest move .

the stock is somewhat out of control, looks absolutely horrible on the charts and there is little to be positive, just hope the stock being so oversold technically that it can bounce to 8,50 and do some damage control.
all in all a poor call by me, just shows how difficult it is to get back in the game, cleaning a biz and stop the bleeding is one ting, one can do that by reducing cost and cutting other overheads , but to get back in the game and build a viable biz, that's very hard
i believe BBRY has a chance to do that with BBM and QNX, but can such a biz be worth 10 bio over time, or is this a 3 bio biz and better off being private ?

  • BlackBerry Makes Another Common Sense Acquisition [View article]

    agree, but now joking apart

BBRY going down increases the chances of Prem delisting the company, so from a trading perspective somewhere at 7 to 6 BBRY will find support, irrespective of their numbers or the biz shrinking , at this level Watsa will come in and do damage control

so for us if you can have the patience to wait for another 12 months , you know from here either the stock can move back-up on its own merit or Prem will buy us out, so for a punt I stay with the stock.

unless you want to torment yourself, do as I say, keep the graph upside down, looks fantastic and you sleep very well, don't look at your account, just the chart , very important UPSIDE DOWN ! , otherwise you want to jump off a cliff, just like BBRY
i learned that from Chen and Watsa, no need for damage control, they have a different way of keeping their position at sleeping level, just look at the price chart upside down and you sleep like a baby....zzz...
remember, very important do not look at your account...

I tell you stock trading used to be a numbers game, the strongest, healthiest and most profitable companies commanded the best premium, no longer though, it is now an analyst perception game, look at AMZN they make a profit, a bloody miracle and the stock moves to all time high and is 15% up in after hours quotation, how crazy is this, AMZN with a 100 mio profit up 15% and Apple with 11 bio profit down 5%
