  • Nokia Finally Selling HERE Maps. Does It Matter To Shareholders? [View article]
yes, this has happened now quite often that Chinese companies pulled their bids, I think they see everything as non-binding

anyway, that leaves probably as serious contenders

    - the German consortium as principals
    - Uber as principals
    - Baidu as a participant
    - MSFT as a minority holder ( as that is what we have been let to believe, would be their interest)
    - NOK as a minority holder ( same here , as an option )

NOK pulling the sale altogether seems extremely unlikely, but cannot be completely ruled out
i believe there is quite some political pressure behind the scenes favoring the German coalition, but whether the Germans can come up with some formula or private equity participant to push the price up to the level to be able to match Uber/Baidu remains to be seen
FB, even Apple or other companies have been mentioned , but I doubt they will participate in the bidding for Here.
I find it extremely strange that NOK, according to the press, is so outspoken about favoring one bidder in particular, looks like the Politicians are pulling some strings influencing the outcome on this deal.
exciting times, we will know soon enough.

  • Here's Why I'm Buying Microsoft And Selling Apple [View article]
I would consider buying MSFT in the low 40's, but selling Apple here at 125/126 $ is a far greater risk than buying MSFT imho, Apple is dirt cheap, trading at 12 x earnings ( without the cash) or 16 x with, Apple is undervalued, but as with all stocks there are moments in time a stock gets overbought and needs a bit of a breather, that's where Apple is at right now, it is drifting from the highs ready to build fresh momentum which may take the stock up to 140 and likely 150 by year end.

if i had a 1000 $ to invest , i put 250 in MSFT and 750 in Apple at present prices.

  • BlackBerry: Will This Be The Quarter Of Hardware Rebirth? [View article]
well they sure are making an effort of it to knock BBRY down prior to the numbers, classical they hope people will exit the stock big time on poor performance , so they can buy back their short position.

this is typical , the Traders at the desk put on short positions, the analysts lower their outlooks, the stock tanks and they buy it all back on weakness into the stops on massive long liquidation.

well i just bought some more below 9, averaging down
i still believe the shop will either partner, split or be sold and that should equate to a 15$ share price
not easy hé Prem this BBRY stock ? well keep thinking

well they are done with Elop, that was a fast and furious move from NOK to MSFT to the EXIT

Guess that counts MSFT out as a principal buyers for Here, participant as a minority may well be on, although with MSFT one can never tell

  • BlackBerry: Ask Yourself 2 Questions [View article]

Long BBRY, because I believe Prem will sell the company and we stand to collect 15 $ a share, that's > 50% return in 12/18 months , as I feel that Prem no longer has the appetite to stay with this investment, but he will try and Trade out of BBRY at the best possible price.
there are no fundamental LT reasons to stay with the stock, not for us and not for Prem, BBRY has some good valuable assets such as BBM and QNX, but BBRY is no longer the power house to be able to extract the right returns out of these assets, BBRY needs to find a strong strategic partner, if BBRY is not to end like Kodak , they need to sell now.
I am counting on that happening and I am not the only one, recently some very wealthy individuals have all taken up some BBRY stock, they must also be counting on Prem selling the shop.

  • Apple WWDC Vs. Google I/O 2015 [View article]

@ beefy 136, as always by the time the weak longs have given up on the stock, that's what we are witnessing now, on every little down move some more are letting go
timing is so bloody difficult, but I would predict the stock to trade at 145/150 by year end and we may go down just at or slightly below 120, so sit with it average down and just take the dividend.

yes I think so too, that's why MSFT has apparently said " we want in for a minority "

anyway Andreas is right as far as Nadella goes imo , he is in charge bcse Ballmer screwed-up and Elop could not deliver Here at an acceptable price, so for Nadella now to come in and pay 7 bio is the fastest way to the exit.

I must say MSFT makes it almost a habit of screwing-up with takeovers, where is Skype, where are the NOK phones ?

MSFT is very, very lucky they are still so dominant with windows and cloud.
They need a homerun for their share holders, not another cock-up, I doubt Nadella will overpay for Here, but with MSFT you never know.
I must say I like the stock if it retraces to the low 40's

Interesting to read the difference in opinion between 2 former employees out of the NOK/HERE/Siemens conglomerate

just a wild guess: KBRO retired ( he stated so ) and Andreas got fired ( bcse he clinched with TH ).

  • TomTom's Lofty Valuation Is More Than Justified Following Huge Opportunities In Telematics And Fitness [View article]

speculation running high, this will be a very interesting week, have the Germans been able to muscle their way into Here ?
They seem to be hedging their bets with TT .

NOK will not be pressurized for a deal, they will let their advisors handle this , that's good news, because it indicates that all options are still open.

I am still banking on NOK keeping a minority and coming to terms with the German coalition, that would also make TT extremely attractive to those who missed out on Here, just a question of time before someone will secure TT's mapping unit.
Looking good for share holders, just weather the storm and let matters develop.

if you want to float a company, even if you have strong partners involved and you are unable to show beefy numbers for profits, this will never fly, it always ends in tears , the hype becomes a disappointment, no matter how well you package it
also investment Bankers are no fools and if they know the partners are been let in on the basis of 3 bio and you think you can outsmart the investor to make him get in on the basis of 10 bio, you are in for a surprise
TT whole market value is just over 2 bio Euro, so 10 bio $ for a spin off on the Maps, just on a bright future ? unlikely this will fly.

the real successful floats were mostly private companies going to the exchange and able to show sustained good solid earnings, all the others ended in failure, investors on the stock exchange have no mercy, even if the free float is limited
I am not seeing this, I think TT may be contemplating capitalizing selling the maps, it may take the stock up to 15 Euro

HG may be good, but he is no Elon Musk or Jeff Bezos, those guys are bigger than life, they get credit on their story, they are the exceptions.
HG is an unknown in the US
