  • Yes, Apple At $203 A Share Is Possible [View article]
thank you for your answer, the time difference is somewhat a handicap for catching up

you have made a very valid point, Management compensation schemes differ from country to country

over here one is not always enthusiastic about share buy backs, because some of these buy back shares are not destroyed, but are held back in a pending or holding account and than years later they end up in some bonus scheme for senior Management.

Fair comment and I do not disagree, but my point is to see Apple being rewarded more just for value than they are presently being judged and that has to do with a) the sheer size of Apples market cap and b) the enormous amount of cash they are carrying on their balance sheet

one should also not forget that ( just to talk round numbers) if out of that 150 bio cash, 100 bio is surplus to requirements , that is a risk to shareholders.
Apple could easily transfer that risk to an asset for share holders by paying out a special dividend, I am aware of the tax issue, but Apple can borrow like no other company, cheap and plenty , so there is plenty of room to maneuver.

the result is the net value of Apple as a company would go down, the market cap would go down, but the multiple would increase enormously.

this is all perfect news to share holders, bcse - they get rewarded handsomely for their investment with a cash pay-out, the stock becomes cheaper so they can buy more, the downside on the stock is reduced because of the lower market cap and the risk that cash sitting on Apples balance sheet and not being rewarded fairly in the share price has disappeared and let the Banks take some credit risk on Apple.

let us not forget that all share carry risk also Apple, let us not forget that only 2 years ago after a minor cock-up on Maps, Apple lost almost 50% of its market value.
I am not saying this is to happen again, because Apple is now more diversified, has more value and less shares available, but if for whatever reason the Apple watch or any other new product is a failure, the stock will get sold and it will be sold down seriously, bcse Apple just gets too much attention, good or bad.

Apple is by far the best money earner on the Globe, so pay out and reduce risk, that is what is good for shareholders, one should extract risk out of a company when it grows into unknown territory, no other company has achieved what Apple has, even Exxon does not come close and they have a 100 year history, went through 3 mergers and went bankrupt or almost and Apple achieved all this in 10 years, so do not put more in, don't buy more of your own shares, reduce risk do not add risk, that's what they should be doing, Apple makes enough money to support any LT view they have, so to me there is no need to carry an oversupply of cash on its books, that is an unnecessary risk.

    absolutely !

Apple is getting totally unjust penalized because of its sheer market cap , formerly any company sitting on Mountains of cash was considered as safe as the Bank of England, now WS is holding it against you.

Apple is spending bio of $ buying their own stock and they can hardly move the needle , because all Specs an Traders are front loading on the stock and selling it to them.

moreover Cash today is an evaporating commodity for value, the more debt you own the better you are off as Long as you have performing assets to service the interest.

no company on the Globe has the potential Apple has, the problem is that Apple has to fight its way up, where other companies get rewarded ridiculous multiples on promises that one day they will make profit.

I say the Board of Apple should stop worrying about moving the SP up, just hand the cash out to your loyal investors and no one will sell the stock, get the Trade and these big Specs out of the stock and bring in the Long term investment holder

Apple is the best quality stock on the Globe and it gets rewarded as a spec stock at a ridiculous low and unjust multiple., because everybody keeps on saying look at Apples market cap they can never sustain or grow bcse the earnings and margins will come down.

sofar the earnings and margins have only gone up.

I say Apple give the shareholders the cash and no one will sell the stock, just up the dividend to 5% and see who does not want to own Apple, safest investment there is.

instead of wasting another 20 bio $ in buy-backs every year , Apple should just give us an additional 4$ dividend per share and instead of carrying a 100 bio $ capital surplus on their balance sheet they should hand out a special dividend of 20 $ a share and instead of moving to that new space shuttle office they are building, they should use that money to acquire new ventures.

and than let's see who will be selling the stock, the share holders got the cash and the stock is still here at 100$ and finally Apple will be valued correctly for earnings.

  • 3 Signs That Apple's Next Breakout May Be Its Last [View article]

today is the proof, any other company on the Globe would have exploded for share price with such results, but all this front loading and anticipation is keeping a lid on the stock.

Apple has got to stop with the share buy back it is a waste of investors money, no matter if there are less shares available and the EPS go up, no company on the globe is making what Apple makes and they get zilch for gratitude in their share price unless they come in and push the stock themselves.

just up the dividend to 5% , reward your share holders and the selling will evaporate immediately.

Apple is too big a market cap, the stock will have to do far too much fighting to move the needle, very unjust, but that's Wall Street

so just hand that cash back to your loyal investors and let's see if anyone will sell the worlds most secure stock when your paying 5% per annum.

Yes i agree, that's why often if the purpose is to go for capital gains and the stock buy back does not give the result they are looking for, the next thing you know is an activist will ask to split the company, float the 4 divisions separately and get to that trillion market cap on the sum of all parts.

LT investors are not looking for that they know Apple is the best tech company on the Globe and could well be the worlds largest and most successful tech conglomerate in the world, moving into health, transport, security, space .. Apple can afford to buy the best brains on the Globe , create the best think-tank in the world.

their aim should not be to be the largest by a mile in market cap ( they will anyway ) but the best rewarding for its share holders.
Apple could be the worlds best private pension fund for those willing to invest , not just for US citizens , but for many

but I do agree with you that at some stage Apple is going to become it's own worst enemy if they don't get rid of that cash, the market will fight Apple to move that needle much beyond where they are today.
yes 120 is possible , but there is a cap, also for Apple.
it's a flaw in human nature, after number One , you can only become number 2 and the more people want that to happen, the more likely it will.

so Apple should really hand out that cash.

i also feel the stock is not expensively priced, but it's just very difficult for Apple to move beyond a certain market cap level, because it's never been seen before by any company on the Globe.
Apple buy-back program is not really having as much effect as one would expect, because the program attracts a lot of front-loading by Traders and Specs, all looking to take profit at higher levels.

Apple should abandon the buying program and instead up the dividend to 5%, Apple should take the selling out of the stock, rather than do massive buying, which will automatically again attract selling.
Apple would as such better reward their loyal LT investors.
by doing that they will immediately take all the selling out of the stock and do away with the large Specs in the stock only looking for quick returns.
the stock itself will improve gradually and steadily and we all have decent income out of the stock and growth for wealth.
I will Always opt for a steady good return and ownership of a stock than move from one trading stock to another, just for capital gain purpose.
people wanting to Trade for swings should move to JCP or BBRY or other non paying dividend stocks.

I also feel all these articles on Apple are damaging the stock, there is so much anticipation again of how well Apple should perform, people throwing numbers around so high, that a little short on the numbers feels like a disappointment and failure, absolutely ridiculous, Apple makes more money than any other company on the Globe and if they just come slightly short of ridiculous expectations they get nailed.
    madness.
Just up the dividend to 5% and see if anyone wants to sell your stock, I think only buyers will move in.

  • Apple: Time To Sell? [View article]

Apple should get rid of the Traders and Speculators in their stock and reward the long term investor and the best way to achieve that is stop buying their own stock, because Traders and Specs are front loading to sell into that buying and simply up the dividend to 5% , that will immediately take the selling out of the stock and enhance long term ownership.

  • Why Is Apple Undervalued? [View article]
dear Author, thank you for yr paper,
I feel the sheer size of Apple's market cap is becoming an unjust psychological handicap, the stock split brought about a lower share price , that enabled more people to participate in the stock, that was not a good move for the stock price, because those people are more leaning towards trading the stock than holding the stock.

Apple has become the largest buyer/supporter of their own stock because of the buy backs, but that is no guarantee for sustainable higher prices.

if Apple has a problem being justly rewarded for share price, Apple should simply double the dividend , reward your shareholders with more cash , your stock does not have to improve in market cap , just up the dividend to 5% and just watch what happens to your stock price.

  • How High Can Icahn Drive Apple Shares? [View article]

maybe a bit over the top, but I do agree, however instead of buying their own stock, I would prefer Apple ( if allowed ) to take a substantial interest in Lenovo

I see LT Lenovo as the only serious contender outthere, as they are really gaining ground everywhere and making money.

I doubt very much he has capitulated, he has only moved into the trenches.

I believe the Author to be a highly intelligent person, he is able to analyze very well and as such casts doubt in your mind and he does that with so much vigor and so many papers that he is the most dangerous Author here on SA and his last paper is an insult, than keep quiet for a while , but to change your mind on a Position you have defended whilst it moved almost 100% against you and at times even mocked the company you are writing about and now at the highs change your tune is a slap in the face to all his loyal followers.
