E*Trade's 'First In, First Out' Position: Yes, 111M Shorts Can Be Wrong

Great article Cindy. I switched to AMTD during the fall of Etrade and switched back. AMTD doesn't even calculate a basis on individual lots that I purchased, instead averaging them all at one price without dates and purchase prices for each lot. Furthemore, you can't edit individual lots within your portfolio, so ultimately you're left wondering what you paid for what when. How stupid is that! Combine fantastic tax records built into the system with PowerETrade streaming and trading features and this software platform utterly wipes AMTD's slate clean. I was so sad to leave ETrade and so happy to come back. I am holding 35K shares in around $4.00. I was one of their original investors back in 1997 when they were EGRP and have worked with the company a few times in the past as a member of a focus group they conducted on their platform. I've seen Schwab and AMTD and they don't even hold a candle. ETrade is the best!
