  • Shares of Coinstar (CSTR -2.7%) haven't found a bottom yet after last week's Q2 revenue miss and soft guidance set off broad selling pressure. The common theme from critics centers on the premise that the company may have a flawed business model by selling physical products in an increasingly digital market. [View news story]
Physical products will definitely be replaced with digital media, but it is not going to be as fast as people think. The next generation of video game consoles will be out in about a year and they will continue to utilize physical media (these consoles have about 7-10 year life-cycles). CSTR's demise is premature. People aren't quick to give up old habits. I mean, there are individuals out there who still use dial-up.

Nice change of pace article. Do you see DNKN as Trent Richardson because you feel that he will enter the league as a solid back and is only going to get better?

  • Sell Arena Pharmaceuticals And Step To The Sidelines [View article]
As a VERY new investor, I thought stop-loss orders would actually save your skin in a bad situation. it blows my mind that a 'bear raid' could attack your position so aggressively. Stocks are not for the weak of heart.

  • Frenzied activity continues for Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA), now down 8% after dropping more than 18% in a matter of minutes, a follow-on to its 11% gain on heavy volume yesterday. As the run-up to an FDA decision on its lorcaserin diet drug continues, the company had risen 39% this week before today's open.  [View news story]
    Well. That wasn't fun.

  • As Facebook's (FB +2.8%) IPO-day trading volume rushes towards 500M, reports pile in (I, II, III) of trade confirmation problems. Expect Morgan Stanley (MS) and the NASDAQ to engage in some finger-pointing over the matter. An NYSE spokesman laughed and said he had no comment. Meanwhile, Facebook shares have fallen back to $39.06.  [View news story]
Something tells me you will have gotten in at $42 & not $38 like you're thinking. Check it when it settles.

  • Shares of Arena Pharmaceuticals (ARNA) jump 14% after it said late yesterday that an FDA advisory panel will meet on Thursday next week to discuss the company's anti-obesity drug Lorcaserin. The company also said its Q1 loss per share narrowed to $0.18 from $0.35 vs. consensus of $0.13; revenue fell to $2.19M from $3.93M. (PR)  [View news story]
I would love Lorcaserin to be approved, and this stock to do well long term. I don't know why, but this stock seems to be a magnet for negative criticism.
