All you have to do is hire a CPA to audit your performance. Then you can post an audited track record which would silence all your critics. I've worked for several partnerships that have done it in order to raise money..

Remember in March they pumped financials and comsumer names first. Then held financials and consumer discretionary flat for several weeks while they pumped energy, materials, and tech to put the broad idices up higher.

Your qualitative analysis is good but I think you need to drill down on the numbers a bit more. There is a good reason why FIG trades at this price and sports a"distressed" type dividend yield.

Why not use the russell 2000. Lots of small banks and financials. Lots of retail names with exposure to US consumer. Small companies are more vulnerable to credit markets drying up. Plus R2K trades at much higher multiples.

I just think that you are buying puts on the least vulnerable index in the market.
