This Is What a Housing Recovery Looks Like? [View article]
I remember when the economies of Texas and Louisiana were devistated by $9 barrel oil. Whole housing sub divisions were abandoned. Homes sold for 10- 25% of value. But investors bought them up and held, and sold in a couple of years. Moral: Time and inflation make hard asset investing look smart. Patience grasshopper.
I have and associate who has a potential contract for millions of units of an electronic device. He has contacted a Taiwanese manufacturer. He was told, no problem as their is plenty of capacity as many factories are idle. The same is true for a Chinese cell phone manufacturer. He is down to 1 shift from 3. This world wide recovery is a sham.

Agriculture and entertainment. As populations rise they must be fed and distracted. The bread and circus theory of the Romans comes to mind. Genetic seed, fertilizer, cell phones, games.
Ethanol vs. Natural Gas or Coal: Comparison Not Even Close [View article]
Once again someone points out what is rational to invest in, Nat Gas and Coal. But what does the mayor of Chicago (Obama) and his henchmen think. He did say he would bankrupt coal companies, and he does not seem to embrace the obvious solution of Nat Gas.

A feeble attempt at PR damage control by the worlds largest crime syndicate. They make the mafia, the tong triads and Al-Qaeda pale in comparison. The tendrils of their manipulation go back 100yrs. They are the symbol of US corporate destruction. They exist solely for the benefit of the management and board of directors at the shareholders expense.
Gold and Silver ETFs on Fire: Get Ready for a Reversal [View article]
I was a casino mgr in LV. I had a group of big rollers that I got to know. I asked them what they did to make money. They explained that they belonged to a consortium that bought/sold commodities. They gleefully explained how they manipulated the market by leaking info buying but then shorting ect. I relay this information so that you have no illusions that the deck is stacked, so buy/sell accordingly.
I have an associate in China, she says things are really bad and figures are cooked by Government. Many factories shut down. My other Chinese friend runs a factory that produces Nokia phones. He is down to 1 half shift from three shifts 18mos ago.
I agree with picman. I read this forum for insight and advise with facts to back up picks. Most of the contributors participate just to get their name or company in print and are like my wife, just talk to hear their own voice and offer the obvious or yesterdays news.
Meredith Whitney: 'I Haven't Been This Bearish in a Year' [View article]
I don't particularly think Ms. Whitney is saying sell banks, she is just saying they are not sound. Like telling someone a bridge is not sound, may not fail today but will soon.Everyone knows market is fickle. And this Paulson guy is Wall Street insider that preys on small investor, who knows what kind of deal guys like him or Bill Gross make with Citi or other entities. Hell, a guy I have admired for years, Warren Buffet, sold his soul to Pres. Obama for some inside info.
