  • Commodities: The Best Is Yet to Come [View article]
I live in rural Kansas and the report about the wet weather is correct. And also true that the use of energy to dry the grain is evident as you can hear and smell the drying being done by farmers and grain silos.

  • Time to Move Back into Defensive Stocks Like Utilities? [View article]
I must consider the Obama factor. That is his penchant for over regulation. I have been looking at foreign utilities and a ETF from Wisdom Tree DBU

  • Marc Faber on the U.S. Dollar and the Stimulus [View article]
I believe that the US is most concerned with placating the Chinese, so a rise in the Dollar is what they want. And that is what they will get. And stock market has been looking for a reason to tank, and this is it.
Of course the long run inflation is inevitable, but for now that is how I will bet.
I think floating rate funds are one option. BGT, FFRHX

  • Why Is the Market Going Up When Jobs Are Going Down? [View article]
"4th reason: Declining dollar. (The dollar's inverse correlation with the market is a very significant .80, according to SA author David Goldman. The market action of the last few days has strongly inversely correlated with the dollar.) "

What is the reason for this?

  • Ackman Explains Pairs Play: Corrections Corp and Realty Income [View article]
Prisons, unfortunately a growth industry in US.
I have looked at CXW in the past and pass on it because I don't like stocks without a Dividend. Was there a prison reit?

  • Charlie Munger Speaks Candidly on Investing in BBC Interview [View article]
    Amen to that.
I was going through some old stuff and came across an Esquire Mag from 1976. On the cover was a picture of Carter and Ford as wrestlers winking at each other and the title read: Is democracy fixed?
When was last time we really had a choice? I mean Bush VS two pompas idiots and now look what we got, a Chicago politician, are you surprised?

  • Ten Stocks for the Next Ten Years [View article]
I like the picks, except I would substitute PWE and PGH with LINE. Check out the chart comparison.
Plus the tax uncertainty issue. I still own them, but have been hammered from time to time.

  • Betting on Natural Gas, Part II: Investing Ideas [View article]
When I bet football I look for an edge, ideas that have generally worked in the past (bet home team underdog on monday night) so too with Nat Gas you buy (bet) in sept-oct and sell in Dec. always good for 10-20%.
I went light this year because I am aware of the overcapacity and that prices should be low, but it worked anyway. Kind of like the "summer driving" boost in oil every year.
Stocks-football not so different. Think about it. 10% of us do good and the rest get screwed by the house ie Goldman Sachs (evil Vaders)

  • 6 Dividend Stocks for Current Income [View article]
Take a look at some of the Wisdom tree funds. They are all dividend based. I have a couple like DOO, pays 12.57%.
Although some have low volume, so watch that.

  • Dividend Aristocrats: 3 to Watch [View article]
After consistently hearing of the excess of US CEO's in pay and perks, I now only own pipeline MLPs and foreign stocks.
I do not trust US companies and that makes me sad.

  • Geithner to Blame for Outrageous Goldman Bonuses [View article]
You know I knew the Obama administration was far left leaning, but at least I figured that they would come down on a Socialist's arch enemy, Wall Street. (as well as the drug companies)
But I guess what they really are is crooked Chicago politicians who will lie down with anybody that they need.

  • U.S. Dollar Now Testing $1.50 Per Euro [View article]
I remember the Carter years. We were made to feel ashamed to be Americans, industries failing, and had inflation without jobs.
It was a bad time, and I think it is coming back.
I am an independent, did not like Pres Bush policies, (he betrayed conservatives and created Pres. Obama) but these far left people are starting to scare me.
Just thinking of Cap and Trade restrictions at this time is insane.

  • Too Big to Fail Banks: Greenspan Says 'Break 'Em Up'. What Are the Chances? [View article]
Where is Teddy Roosevelt, and his big stick? The US needs a leader, not another reality show.
How many times does Goldman Sachs have to cause financial crisis before they are shut down like Teddy did with JP Morgan?

  • Hooverville 2009: Where's the Anger, America? [View article]
It amazes me when I look at the US vs China. US is dissillusioned because of inept corrupt leaders (both parties) so leans to the left, China, having been to the far left, and experienced the distribution of wealth and the collective is rapidly moving to the right.
George Bush created Pres. Obama. Now look at the mess we are in.
