  • What Good Could Come for the U.S. From the Turmoil in Egypt? [View article]
I live in a small town in Ks. Most of the young men are in the army reserve, no jobs since the financial crisis.
    They are deployed in Egypt!!!!
When will US start minding their own business?????
Want to solve the deficit? The border? ect.
We have 60K troops in Germany, I am sick of it. We have 900 foreign bases.
Ron Paul is the only pol who even suggests this because I guess we Americans feel good about being the only superpower.
Myself, I would feel better if we were at peace and in the business of making money and enjoying our lives. email your congressman.

  • Natural Gas Prices and Investment Choices [View article]
Those phony environmentalists in power now ignore the obvious answer to pollution and middle east despots: Nat Gas.
I am sooo disappointed in them. I thought that they would at least grasp that concept.
I guess they are what they are, crooked chicago politicians, can't change.

  • Paul Volcker: The Voice in the Wilderness [View article]
When I first saw Mr. Volker standing behind candidate Obama I was impressed, because I too admire him. But I don't hear him say anything now, even though he is in photo ops with the current administration. I almost think those shots are a cardboard prop of him and they are afraid to let him talk. He cannot be in favor of what is transpiring as to fiscal policy now.

  • Want to Invest in Russia? Here's Why You Shouldn't [View article]
Amazing, the two different paths taken by Russia and China in post Communist rule.
The only thing the Russians seem to be good at is crime.
I had a friend in the casino business, he went to Moscow to run one. He was not there two weeks before he was extorted, threatened with death by the casino owner, and two other thug groups that wanted him to steal and give to them. He left with his passport and clothes on his back.

  • Four Indicators for When to Exit the Rally [View article]
So, seems everybody knows this rally is a BS story because things are really not good, and won't be for a long time. It's just a matter of when the rich guys (Goldman Sachs) feel they can pull the rug out from under the small investor.
I will give you another indicator. I am a conservative active investor. I know it is going to correct, and I am thinking of getting in. When I do, short the market!

Remember the old joke about the gambler who, when told the card game was crooked still played, because it was the only game in town.

  • Why Our 'Lost Decade' May Only Last 5 Years [View article]
I agree this is the defacto end of era. The future belongs to EM economies.
Who would have thought that Brazil would be in better fiscal shape than US or EU?

  • Ethanol vs. Natural Gas or Coal: Comparison Not Even Close [View article]
Once again someone points out what is rational to invest in, Nat Gas and Coal.
But what does the mayor of Chicago (Obama) and his henchmen think.
He did say he would bankrupt coal companies, and he does not seem to embrace the obvious solution of Nat Gas.

  • Oversold Linn Energy/Linn Co Could Rally On The Fiscal Cliff Deal [View article]
Stop/loss triggers have hurt me much more than helped. And especially since the advent of the "flash crash" I am very leery of using them.
I look back and think that since I had done my DD and bought a good business I should have rode it out.

  • Torturing Statistics on the Housing Bubble [View article]
I was in the mortgage business for years. Sub prime was a good thing. But it was with a 20-30% down pymt and much higher rates, which compensated the lender for risk.
I remember when the terms kept getting looser and looser, we couldn't believe it. So, my finger points to the congressional watchdogs, (yeah right) as the main culprits,
    Barney and Dodd.
If you live in their states and vote them back it would be like finding Madoff not guilty. I mean they took money from the companies they were regulating, can that be legal?

  • Master Limited Partnerships Get Pounded (Again). What's Going On? [View article]
(but what if after Obama is reelected (another "if") Congress and Obama change MLP's to Corp. status? )

Here we go again, having to worry about business UNfriendly politicians are going to do. I remember when I was just getting into investing and the Drug companies and healthcare were crushed by the spectre of Hillerycare.
Now energy is uncertain. If Himself gets a second term, watch out.

  • Meredith Whitney: 'I Haven't Been This Bearish in a Year' [View article]
I don't particularly think Ms. Whitney is saying sell banks, she is just saying they are not sound. Like telling someone a bridge is not sound, may not fail today but will soon.Everyone knows market is fickle. And this Paulson guy is Wall Street insider that preys on small investor, who knows what kind of deal guys like him or Bill Gross make with Citi or other entities.
Hell, a guy I have admired for years, Warren Buffet, sold his soul to Pres. Obama for some inside info.

For a real Loan Participation CEF check out CEFA and screen for Loan Participation under Fixed Rate Funds.
(these are reputed to do well in inflationary times because of variable rate feature. But since last year I can't say I will count on anything.
