  • Has eBay Reached the Limit of the Network Effect? [View article]
I am a former eBay Powerseller & still an occasional eBay buyer.

I have been watching this very slow train wreck play out for longer than I care to say - and I have the following observation:

This is a stock that would be trading well in excess of $100, if it had anything resembling competent management.

There is a theory that the reason Meg picked JD to take over, is because he would make her look like a genius by comparison.

If that is true, it appears to be working perfectly...

  • eBay's Latest Screw-Up [View article]
The saddest part of all is the great number of people that are hurting badly because of the recent "changes" as eBay strives to become what they are not - nor will they ever be. Another Amazon. For starters - Amazon has real customer service, but I digress...

eBay - the great "enabler" has become the great disabler. Folks that put all of their eggs in eBay's basket have had the basket stomped on.

Current management has been a P/R nightmare of unbelievable scope. They have finally finished squandering the last remnant of the amazing amount of good will they had in the early years.

And yes, the market is finally waking up to what is happening. They are killing the eBay core site. When, not if - The IT hits the fan, it won't be a pretty sight.

The stockholders will be like the guy sweeping up after the bar closes. No loose change will be found on the floor here though. Just empty rooms in leased buildings where all of the leased servers & office equipment used to be. Upper management will have long since escaped with their golden parachutes & cash from their massive stock options.

Even PayPal - the crown jewel, will be a mere shadow of it's former self, without the massive captive eBay transactions.

    Yes, sell.....

  • eBay Feedback Changes Getting Negative Feedback [View article]
Lots of speculation that eBay wants to be "The New Amazon."

Amazon has REAL customer service. If you hit the "call me now", they call you - now. And a real person that can speak clear English is on the other end. And your problem is handled. Right away.

Amazon guarantees that will you get what you paid for. No ifs, ands or buts..

Amazon has an EXCELLENT reputation with consumers. People are not afraid to shop there. I could go on & on..

eBay is NOTHING like Amazon. They will NEVER be like Amazon. Sorry...
