  • American Capital Agency Secondary Offering: Premium To Book Still Too High [View article]
AMTG, MTGE, AGNC are all in my Stagnant Market Portfolio and I have been very pleased with their performance the past year. I am, however, watching interest rates very closely as any increase will adversely effect this part of my portfolio.

Less risk now than just about any part of market and I will take their dividends while I wait for our economy to show even the slightest indication of starting to get going again! Then inflation will kick in and hopefully I'm smart enough to be out of these! You adequately described the risk!

  • Apple (AAPL), unsurprisingly, has the largest overseas cash balance of any tech company: Moody's believes it rose 15% in the March quarter to $74B. Joining Apple in the top 5 are Microsoft (MSFT - $50B), Cisco (CSCO - $42.3B), Oracle (ORCL - $25.1B), and Qualcomm (QCOM - $16.5B). Altogether, tech companies account for roughly half of an estimated $457B in overseas cash held by U.S. firms. Efforts to obtain a "tax holiday" on the repatriation of overseas cash have stalled.  [View news story]
They get taxed again bringing it home! That's why it isn't coming home! I say let them bring the cash home and not get taxed again! Other countries allow their companies to bring foreign cash home without being taxed again! Our government is so Liberal/Progressive based it can't see the forest because of all the trees in the way!!!!!!!

I need to really completely understand this before I implement it. I admit that Puts and Calls have me scratching my head and if someone could point me to an Internet site that I can read and hopefully understand, I would appreciate it. I believe stocks like AGNC are smart to own right now as we are headed (there already, I guess) to the same situation that has inflicted Japan for the past decade plus and dividend stocks are where you need to be.

  • A bull on mortgage REITs, Dividend Master nevertheless unloads American Capital Agency (AGNC) and American Capital Mortgage (MTGE). AGNC's and MTGE's share prices tower by about 10% over their book values ($29.06 and $21.78 respectively, as of 3/31). Expect secondaries soon to "monetize the premium."  [View news story]
