  • High Arctic Energy Services: Spring Clearance Sale Is Ending Soon [View article]
    Value Digger,
Nice write-up but we are dealing with a pink sheet stock here. Friday it traded less than 20,000 shares on the US exchange/pink sheet. That is less than $70,000. No one seems to want to buy nor sell. It did bounce on 4/28 based on your pro article, I suspect, and hasn't settled back down yet.
Back on 3/25/15 Morningstar noted that it was trading at unusually high volume and that was at 1000 shares. It also noted the previous 30 day average was 54 shares. I, and I am sure others that have read this article, would appreciate your input on how one moves from finding this stock interesting to buying it in a meaningful quanity without moving the needle. Thanks, sky

I have used both. Currently hold VBR as my small cap allocation. Over three years they are about the same. Longer VB is ahead.

thanks Noah. Appreciate the additional info on VEA and VGK. You are certainly correct that VEA is a broader international etf and important to remember that VGK is focused on Europe.

Noah, VEA is also a strong ETF. May we have your thoughts on it compared to VGK.

lookuphere, are you talking to gene, kriby or Dsandman? we all need to start our post with the person we are responding to if that is what we are doing. The way SA shows the posts does not fall below the person you hit reply to.

  • The oil price decline could get ugly again soon, analysts warn [View news story]
Zeppelin, Good comments for Sina. But maybe go further for him and others of us who haven't spent much time looking at 3x etfs. UWTI has dropped from about 2.50 today to 2.22 a few minutes ago. Since it has come down like a 3x rock with oil it is now almost a give away. Why couldn't Sina buy a small holding at this level and even if it went to 1.10 or so hold. No one knows for sure that oil will go up but from here or a lower point it is hard to believe it will not rebound into the 70's or better over say the next 2 years. If it did wouldn't Sina stand to profit tremendously just by holding what he bought at this low low level? Seems like it could be a safer play than trying to pick an oil mlp, etc to catch the rebound. Thanks for adding to this discussion.

    Island,
Thanks for your reply. Is this your total allocation to the oil play in your portfolio?

Island, How are you playing it? I think you have a good point but the hard part is really putting a move into place with a lot of alternatives in specific stocks, mlps, etfs, etc to make it work. Pick the wrong ones, as in any investment decision, and there you are. So the plan and the allocation, specific investments, etc. really the next step in your post. Thanks for your details. Of course we all make our own decisions but seeing your approach would be of interest as a starting place.
