  • Linn Energy: 50% Reduction In Distributions Appears More Sustainable [View article]
lookuphere, are you talking to gene, kriby or Dsandman? we all need to start our post with the person we are responding to if that is what we are doing. The way SA shows the posts does not fall below the person you hit reply to.

Here is another way to say this that I like: :The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realist adjusts the sails."

  • The oil price decline could get ugly again soon, analysts warn [View news story]
Zeppelin, Good comments for Sina. But maybe go further for him and others of us who haven't spent much time looking at 3x etfs. UWTI has dropped from about 2.50 today to 2.22 a few minutes ago. Since it has come down like a 3x rock with oil it is now almost a give away. Why couldn't Sina buy a small holding at this level and even if it went to 1.10 or so hold. No one knows for sure that oil will go up but from here or a lower point it is hard to believe it will not rebound into the 70's or better over say the next 2 years. If it did wouldn't Sina stand to profit tremendously just by holding what he bought at this low low level? Seems like it could be a safer play than trying to pick an oil mlp, etc to catch the rebound. Thanks for adding to this discussion.

    Island,
Thanks for your reply. Is this your total allocation to the oil play in your portfolio?

Island, How are you playing it? I think you have a good point but the hard part is really putting a move into place with a lot of alternatives in specific stocks, mlps, etfs, etc to make it work. Pick the wrong ones, as in any investment decision, and there you are. So the plan and the allocation, specific investments, etc. really the next step in your post. Thanks for your details. Of course we all make our own decisions but seeing your approach would be of interest as a starting place.

Hawkeronetwo and adecinvestor, Actually rlp is one of the top two or three responders/followers of LINE/LNCO. If you go back through the articles over the past year you will see that he hits with the hard questions and also challenges the shallow articles and the posters with the same shallow comments. You will get more good information for making your own decisions about the stock if you take his insights seriously and then do your own research.
I listened to the call today and also in the past and he is correct the hard questions were not asked, or filtered out, and management did not speak to the negatives. Both rlp and I have been long time holders of LINE or LNCO and certainly have heard it all over the last 18 months. I rode it down when I shouldn't have but with some of my shares I am in for the long haul or until I see enough substantial factors to make me move on with what I am still holding.
So give rlp credit for actually do you a favor. He deserves it and is certainly raising some additional points we all need to be comfortable with the answers if we continue to hold the company.

Thanks Pierre. Always helpful to me when the sources are attached to the comments.
Richard Lejeune, it would be interesting to hear from you and your take on this information or others that may be following this stock. when there are issues in the board room or within the company it does raise the"uneasiness" factor and for me the red flags start flying. sky

Thanks Tom and Rlp, I saw the transcript on VNR. Be interested Rlp in an expansion on your comment on another article about the points in the VNR call and how it might relate to what we hear from LINE. Tom I think you are right about LINE/debt and the upside prospects next few years.

Tom, a good bit has changed since Dec for LINE/LNCO. You do a good job of evaluating them. What are your thoughts now both on this holding and on the direction of the energy sector?
    Thanks,
