  • Linn Energy: Divestitures Do Not Disappoint, But Look Dilutive On Cash Flow Metrics [View article]
Looked at the press release from Linn and see that it said these transactions would finance the 2.3B purchase but did not say pay down debt. Guess i was assuming that the bridge would be paid back as part of this. However, if this is an exchange not sure how that works or what impact it has on the bonds.

rlp, I thought I read that they were using proceeds to pay down debt. Would that be the bridge loan?

  • Update: Linn Energy Offering $1 Billion In Senior Notes - Impact To My Bull Thesis [View article]
Chris, Look forward to a good in depth look at LNCO/LINE now that it has made some additional purchases and moved more to a slow decline and a greater slant to a gas operation.
    Thanks,

drm, good points. I held KYE several years back and did make a nice profit, but like you, I did not like the fee. Now in LNCO and that has been an interesting ride.
    thanks for responding.

  • Raymond James: If you like Linn Energy, you should love LinnCo [View news story]
    NV,
Thanks for the added info. I am afraid I was not clear and for others reading this the added tax info is very helpful. In my case I was indicating that I am in the 15% rate for qualified dividends because of my regular tax rate of 25%. I can see how my choice of words, or lack of words, left room for misinterpretation.

Thanks May. For tax planning purposes I entered LNCO dividends as all qualified at 15% in my taxable account. If it is not all taxable now then I will get a small gift at tax time.

  • LinnCo's (LNCO) CEO Mark Ellis on Q2 2014 Results - Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
I would take this to mean that with their strong guidance and the good performance this quarter that they are suggesting that the share price for LNCO/LINE could increase thus reducing the yield %. No reduction is dividend/distribution.

    Zach,
I use the ETF Vanguard investments rather than the mutual funds. No cost to buy, able to see prices and direction during the day when re balancing, and many of them are just another share class for the mutual fund. I do a little tinkering with some of the holdings such as using VB for VBR and using EEMV in place of VWO. Also I added VSS in addition to the holding of VEU for overseas.
I have been adding to my holdings over time but keeping the allocation equal. I must admit that I am using the Vanguard money market account instead of bond funds for the fixed income portion of the allocation. Just not comfortable with bonds at the moment. Realize this does not follow the true letter of the plan.

I use the Vanguard fund plan by Dr. Israelsen. I think that his approach is excellent and has produced very positive returns for me over time. I use it for my core portfolio.
