  • Ebola cases accelerating [View news story]
Dr. Kent Brantly received immune plasma infusion from an Ebola survivor in addition to Zmapp and aggressive monitoring of symptoms--the kitchen sink approach. Zmapp is derived from the serum of chimpanzees infected with a synthetic virus, but it alone is no miracle cure, as one patient receiving it has already died. A statistically provable cure can't happen unless/until a lot more people get sick.

By the way, hasn't everyone seen "12 Monkeys"? All the hospital workers get killed off first, many more die, civilization ends, and even time travelers can't figure out what really happened. We're obviously hoping to avoid that scenario by aggressively treating health-care professionals.

  • How To Play The Oil/Natural Gas Arbitrage [View article]
Hi, I'm a retiree and also an undergraduate at the University of Illinios at Chicago.

You might like to take a look at Linde (LNEGY.PK). They're building an LNG facility in China to supply trucks--they say LNG engines produce more power than diesel--and they also have plans to build a liquefaction facility on a ship. For a few years now, they have been hawking a hydrogen economy, and they have deployed fueling stations in Europe for hydrogen-powered cars. LNG is certainly less of a challenge than hydrogen, as it's not under pressure in the vehicle, so this looks like a smart move for them.

I currently have no position in LNEGY.PK.
