By next summer, with yet another class of graduates thrown onto the non-existent job market, and no pick up in business activity (Nobody I know says his business is any good) and deflation rampant, there will be tremendous pressure for the government to provide jobs.

Look for left leaning pressures on the administration, even the threat of a primary opponent from the left. Either this administration will act or there will be marches on Washington demanding jobs.

Is the Unemployment 'Green Shoot' Wilting?

Right now the young are not finding jobs as well as losing them. If there is no work provided for the under-thirties over the next year, next summer may be a very hot one. It is not unreasonable to picture mass demonstrations by the unemployed and pressure for a primary challenger from the left before the next Presidential election. The government ought to be stepping in as an employer but is not.

How can anyone mention the Cobalt in the same breath as a hybrid? I own two Priuses, the most wonderful cars imaginable, much better than the Volvo and Acura models I traded in for them. I always wind up with rental Cobalts when I travel (seems to be the most common rental fleet vehicle) and the Cobalt is best described as "feh".
