  • The Next Major Financial Crisis  [View article]
And yet the day after Buffett's morose comments the DJIA rose 170 points, spun up on less than great news, and the band played on, and the buy programs from the JPM and GS trading desks came rolling in, just as they have for nearly 2 months now.

The government's chin deep in the markets via their two proxies who know where all the bodies are buried, because THEY buried them, and until that changes news, good, bad or ugly, won't matter a whit.

  • Will New Credit Card Regulation Lengthen the Recession?  [View article]
Four years ago, over a two month period, I paid off a 4 year car loan (all 48 payments on time). I paid off (early) a $1500 revolver (the NO Payments for 2 years type of card) on some furniture I had bought. I paid off a $2000 balance on my only credit card and called the credit card company to ask them to lower my credit limit from $37,000 to $5,000 (I had never had a balance on the card over about 3,500, but it kept creeping up because evidently the card company liked me so much that they thought I should be a lifetime mark).

Ahh, life was grand and I was DEBT free for the first time in years - did not owe a penny to anybody. My income remained the same. I couldn't wait to use one of my once-a-year-free credit reports to see how much my credit score had improved. Naively, I thought that my responsibility would mean good things.

So I did. And guess what? My score went DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By about 50 points!!!!!!!! I tried to get a reason from the credit reporting agency, but they refused. That's when I knew, beyond any doubt, just how screwed up our credit and debt industry and mentality was in this country.

  • The Escalator of Life Is Going Down (Part 2)  [View article]
Sorry to hear that Mr Quinn. I have been an admirer of your work heretofore and have linked it to a number of friends to benefit from.

But I call it paranoia if you can't let your words stand on their own merit without feeling compelled to get into "shouting matches" with everyone who disagrees with your "principles".

We read it. We got it. We ain't gonna change our minds no matter how many times you invite yourself back to the war.

I don't know which side of the political spectrum you sleep on, nor do I really give a schitt, but I do know that the former party in power seems to have a penchant for getting into noisy shouting matches and creating and maintaining controversy. It attracts the sheeple and the emotions and the underlying fears. Comes right out of Rove and the RNC's playbook. So wherever you sleep, you seem to have adopted that mindset... at least in your comments about comments about comments.

Quite frankly, it demeans YOU and causes me to have less respect for you.

I no doubt expect this comment will cause an angry retort and an invitation for me to not read your stuff anymore - that's fine. I already made that decision on my own.

I lose, my friends lose, but most importantly YOU lose.

gee, i like it when an author publishes his comments and leaves the comments to others... kinda smells like he has some insecurity issues otherwise.

I like this author - when he authors - not when he gets into hissey fits with a bunch of message board junkies.
