Should We Really Nationalize Banks - Or Privatize Congress? [View article]
Term limits and outlaw campaign contributions .Give them a few tv and radio stations .No fault divorce, LBJ's welfare laws , the Domestic Violence Act .We no longer have a strong family unit in this country .Most legislators are lawyers .They write laws that favor their profession and the heck with you .Start shrinking the size of govt . In most cases it only exists to perpetuate itself . We are not that far from blood in the streets . I hate to say that but I believe it is near .The only rights we have are to write checks .
Jimbo;I believe the GS act was repealed in the late 1980's.I recall thinking at the time what you just wrote. How can a bank that is federally insured be allowed to take inordinate risk.It is an invitation for disaster and it is as plain as the nose on your face.It is so dumb and so obvious that it makes you question the IQ of our legislators and agency heads..The S&L fiasco.Greenspan and his no doc.,no regulation mortgage loans. Our country not having a sophisticated energy plan.Instead we ship our national wealth overseas as our country goes down the drain .I have come to the conclusion that we have to have term limits and get rid of the professional pols.Go get a real job. Also put a cap on campaign contributions.Make it very low.Give people who want to serve a few radio and tv stations, websites. You serve for a short time, not beholden to your campaign contributiors.

I have to agree with the first 2 comments. The only reason that I can fathom to write the article;is to fill up space .It was a waste of time to read it.

For Doug Poretz: I was at a due diligence meeting before NVR went public the first time.I recall Mr. Schaar say that after watching U.S.Homes go out of business in the 80-82 recession;NVR would limit their risk by not taking land through subdivision. So as to avoid the undue carrying risk.Which I believe he did for a few years and then loaded up and sank the ship.I take it that was just greed? And how did he exit bankruptcy with such a large personal ownership in the new company.I would appreciate it you could shed some light on the above.Thank you.
