NVDA: Still a Wait And See [view article]
I have read AMD had a LEhman credit line- could that matter? Sep 26 12:47 PMReplacing AIG in the Dow: Google? Cisco? Apple? [view article]
Nope, as was said, insurance out, cheese in. KRAFT Sep 19 06:28 AMHow Will Sirius XM Refinance Its Debt Now? [view article]
This article actually has an excellent point. The particulars of companies' fundamentals are being emphasized more than ever as the market itself is under scrutiny, and Siri-XM's ways of spend spend spend, dilute and issue more debt are catching up with them. Essentially in this market the macro issues such as the limited availability of credit are affecting every stock.position: long siri and given up, account in Wamu Sep 15 12:25 PM
Garmin: Navigating to Nowhere [view article]
Have any of you actually tried to use a phone as a GPS for turn by turn directions? Even the biggest phone screen is inferior.... and then there is always the possibility of a phone call. It amazes me how Garmin continues to have multiple spots on Amazon's top selling list, updated hourly. The other company to do that is Apple- also beaten down in this raging insane market. Sep 15 12:17 PMRedbox: New Video Rental Competition for Blockbuster and Netflix [view article]
NFLX is the play. The key is how they are getting their software to work on various hardware through partnerships. The Roku box has been a strong start. Redbox's main problem is how few DVD's fit in a box. After walking indecisively all over a BB store unable to find a movie, I doubt Redbox could ever have enough selection to compete with anyone. Aug 25 12:28 AMSirius-XM Merger Nearly Ready for Air Time [view article]
The (almost) final approval was reported yesterday. Leave Ms. Boorstin and her awesome hair ALONE. Jul 27 07:25 PMSirius-XM Merger Nearly Ready for Air Time [view article]
So my choices for listening to CNBC, CNN, etc. in the car are a) sirius or b) XM... how is this not a monopoly? I agree we need interactive radios, which they already were required to do; and the 6 year price cap. By then, internet WiFi in the car will be workable.Exxon-Mobil is irrelevant, that should not have happened either, but the Republi-Cons are all about making oil powers super-rich. This administration hasn't met a merger it didn't approve... just a need to try and stop that frightening merger of 'hippies' between Whole Foods and Wild Oats.
I love Sirius but they just spend too much money and that has nothing to do with XM. Most people whining about the process are morons who thought they could catch a quick double on SIRI.
I worry after the price cap they will try to raise prices too high and kill their business... you know, pull an eBay. Jul 27 01:16 PM
Sirius / SM Merger Finally Approved - And It Only Took 493 Days! [view article]
I have never seen so many lame comments about a stock. All signs pointed to the merger going through already. Don't expect your stock to magically surge. Look at the auto industry right now, the economy, and realize the upside will be limited. The chance of SIRI going up 80% to $4 on the back of this is quite low. Ironically the merger killed SIRI's shares momentum when the common donk started thinking they had an easy ride. Jul 26 04:21 PMSEPA Report Showing End-Market Demand Disconnect Could Sink First Solar, SunPower [view article]
The paradigm shift is the one away from the utilities into consumer owned SUSTAINABLE forms of energy. I have never seen so much progress in the world of solar. SEPA can try hard, but we are sick of getting bent over a barrel by the utilities- after years of rate increases, pollution, blackouts, Enron, etc., we are MORE than ready for a change. We are DRIVEN with a passionate hatred for the likes of PG+E. Jul 25 06:19 PMApple Is Biting Off More Than It Can Chew [view article]
This new product transition is very mysterious.I think it may be a new affordable tablet multi touch kind of thing...
The cell phone business showed them that reducing margin to gain volume can be a good thing.
I truly hope Mr. Jobs is feeling fine, not because I worry about Apple, but because he is one cool human. That being said, if he were sick, the stock would be punished heavily- but it takes tons of talented people to run that outfit. He could one day be sort of a techno L Ron Hubbard if you ask me, but seriously, I mean that in a good way. Jul 23 04:48 AM
Netflix Brings On-Demand Video to the Xbox: Another PC to TV Bridge [view article]
Netflix has been one of the most trashed stocks I have owned/traded for over 5 years. What a terrific brand and stock- in my +500% opinion, the best is yet to come. I can't believe how many analysts actually thought Blockbuster would kill Netflix due to their B+M stores. The Circuit City debacle was the most recent evidence that the opposite is true. When you want to bring the 2008 C.C. in, you know times are tough. Jul 15 02:09 PM10 Signs of a Recession [view article]
Look for Brazil for an example of sustainable energy policy in effect. Drilling for more conventional oil will not solve the problem and we have ruined our environment enough. Jul 06 09:49 PMGoldman's Sirius Call: Solid Thesis, Poor Timing [view article]
This article is horse puckey. While you may have been right about previous bankruptcies, to me this sounds more like the people claiming cable TV would go nowhere... why pay for tv? Why buy sat rad when net radio will be free? Maybe because with data access and content access, Sirius will be a better deal! Until WiMax or whatever is here and cheap and we can listen to the same content, i.e. CNN, CNBC, BBC, NFL, Sterm, etc., etc., then net radio is no competition. Besides, the infrastructure is not available and won't be affordable for years. Remember, Sirius comes in when you are in the middle of nowhere. The net has a lot of catching up to do. Meanwhile, it is built in to more, not less, new cars.
Guess what? When Net radio in a car does eventually happen, SIRI will likely be bringing it to us becoming a top notch Internet radio provider.

Six Attractive Stocks with Hidden Gems [view article]
Thanks for a thought provoking article.I agree on AAPL, GOOG, and SWY, in that order.
I think AMZN will do fairly well too, but kindle is not accretive enough to the bottom line.
Ebay is overpriced. While paypal is doing well, the ebay auction business is in serious trouble as their fee hikes have finally made it a less useful place to shop as listings continue to decline. (in fact me and several friends now just search AMZN instead for many items)
SHLD I am not sure about and would not buy- Sears is an absolutely terrible brand nowadays, the real estate factor is diminished now- just how much faith are we supposed to have in Lampert alone? With a PEG of 3? Land's End may be great but again not enough a % of bottom line! Jun 23 12:56 PM
PotashCorp and Mosaic: Get Your Orders Ready [view article]
