  • Cash for Clunkers May Cost Up to $45,354 Per Vehicle [View article]
A word of encouragement to all taxpayers :
One positive outcome is still possible : Congress may eventually do the fiscal right things - but not until they have tried everything else of course.

  • Cash for Clunkers May Cost Up to $45,354 Per Vehicle [View article]
The clunker purchase with tax dollars is a dumb idea whatever the cost since 100 % of these cars will be crushed shortly anyway. So we speed up the demise of a few gas guzzlers - this is liking pissing in the ocean to make the sea level rise. Dumb idea and a total waste of taxpayer money. They should crush Congress instead. Now that would save taxpayers billions!

  • Housing: 'We're About to Have a Big Problem' [View article]
I have been in and around mortgage banking for 30 years and have never seen so many "rich" neighbors losing it all. Q: Why? A: Over-leveraged and running out of collateral to borrow against. Their cash reserves go quickly and cash flow is declining rapidly - suddenly all those bills can't be paid. The tsunami has moved ashore and those on the hilltops that thought they were safe are getting washed away by the erosion below - the Big Mudslide. Over-leveraged and now going under water. Flippers - Subprime - AltA and then the Jumbos. We are in for a major reduction of wealth not just a re-distribution.

  • It's a Mad, Mad, Mad Madoff World [View article]
The greedy elite getting what they deserve is proof that bad things happen to bad people - at least once in a while. Now, if that is a universal truth, then we will see a lot more justice rendered .

  • Looks Like We'll See Dow at 10K - Soon? [View article]
I agree. For example here is a very real probability, if Israel bombs Iran's nuclear facilities, which is very probable and sooner than later, then all this techical analysis and the Dow at 10K will be rubbish and oil will be back into the stratosphere.

  • Encore Acquisition Company, Q3 2008 Earnings Call Transcript [View article]
Good "active producing" well reported by EAC in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale . Estimated potential 323 barrels per day per filings with Louisiana Dept. of Conservation on 11/8/08. Local paper reports droves of suspected alien landmen sighted by local coon hunters parachuting in under cover of darkness.
    (Just kidding about the parachutes)

  • UBS: Which Drillers Can Survive Downturn in Energy Sector? [View article]
Cash is King now and the oil companies have the cash - for now at least. What else could they do with this cash - give it to the Democrats or the shareholders? I doubt it. They had better invest it on exploration or repurchase their own stock asap otherwise they risk losing it to Obama, Pelosi, Reid & Company.

  • Where Will Oil Go From Here? [View article]
The main thing our Governments need to really worry about is international food shortages. That causes anarchy which causes wars and more shortages. Fortunately, if you live in the USA, you are virtually surrounded by protective oceans which insulate you from the rest of the starving world, but not entirely.
We can do without everything except air, water, food and beer - yes, we can even do without sports and shopping. I think I will take this economic disaster as an opportunity to refocus my family on what we actually needs vs. what we think we need. Lots of wealth and owning things is rarely the real key to happiness, granted it can be at least temporarily, even if the lack of it is usually a primary cause for unhappiness. Suck it up and chill out till things improve.

  • Encore Acquisition Still a Buy Despite Crude's Plunge [View article]
EAC is fracing a 3rd well in the Tuscaloosa Marine Shale in Louisiana. A fly over in the 2 nd week of October 2008 revealed lots of Halliburton trucks preparing for fracturing .This could be the well that proves that the TMS shale oil formation will be a big oil producer and could start a new "black-gold rush" on the rural Louisiana/Mississippi line according to a local business journal. EAC has quitely leased over 208,000 acres in the TMS and has drilled 3 wells and permitted a 4th. Good luck to EAC and the local landowners.

  • Northern Oil May Be Headed South - Barron's [View article]
The truth is that no one knows where oil is headed. There are too many variables that affect the price, to name a few - unpredictable supply, demand, speculation, geo-political issues, terrorists,OPEC and don't forget emotion and rumor and a lot of so called expert's with conflicting opinions are at the very top of the list. Long-term oil will go up is a fair guess because everything goes up long term but short-term it could go anywhere - up, down or sideways. If you guess wrong or you guess right it was all just a good or bad luck guess - no one and I repeat NO ONE has a clue where oil is going - and any person's guess is just as good as the next person's guess. Charts are worthless when one shut down refinery, one hurricane , one rebel attack on a pipeline or one estimate of future supply or demand by an "expert" can change oil prices overnight. There is way too much emotion in the stock market and too many people investing short term trying to make a quick buck for anyone to have any reliable insight as to future performance of any stock or sector and energy is the least predictable at the moment. Give it up chill out and stop impulse investing on the latest "sounds right" theory.

  • Bullish on Encore [View article]
What is going on with this Tuscaloosa Marine Shale in La./Ms. that Encore has leased 208,000 acres and plans 300-600 wells - per a statement by Las Colinas Investments - that opposes a sale of Encore as currently under-valued due to this new Tuscaloosa find?
