  • Is There An Apple Disconnect? [View article]
The price action defies logic because day traders use it as a financial ping pong ball and there's blatant option manipulation by the d- bag hedge funders. Apple needs to address this quandary. I don't know the answer: stock split? Increase the dividend? Whatever it is Apple needs to do something soon as the shorts and big boys are laughing all the way to the bank and at the "sheep and buffoons" like me who are long on this stock.

  • AT&T (T -2.5%) remains negative after reporting it sold 10M+ smartphones in Q4. One concern: smartphone subsidies will depress AT&T's Q4 margin, and since much of Ma Bell's base already owns a smartphone, the service revenue benefit might not be huge. Apple (AAPL +0.1%) has given up its early gains. With research firms having reported the iPhone is doing very well in the U.S relative to Europe/China, sales concerns mostly revolve around international markets. Meanwhile, Tim Cook is paying another visit to China - is he there to nail down an elusive China Mobile deal? [View news story]
Come on, there 's got to be some grouchy bear out there who can turn the report of these numbers into a negative. Where's Mr Richbar?

  • AT&T announces the sale of more than 10M smartphones in Q4 vs. 9.4M a year ago. "This included best-ever quarterly sales of Android and Apple smartphones." This would suggest Q4 iPhone sales in the 7M-8M range, says BI's Jay Yarow. AAPL +1%, T -1.3% premarket. (PR[View news story]
I knew it! Bad News Bears time. Good news lasted approximately 34 minutes before turning negative. A new Apple record?

This will surely cause Apple stock to tumble. Like all positive, negative and news about The company. The talking heads will find a way to twist this into a way to hammer the stock. Watch.

  • Over 40B apps have now been downloaded from the App Store, and nearly 20B were downloaded last year, Apple (AAPL) declares. The company adds developer payouts have topped $7B, and that there are over 500M active iTunes accounts (very useful for a mobile payments solution if Apple ever wants to launch one). The App Store still has a big edge on Google Play when it comes to app monetization, though the latter has been growing faster lately. [View news story]

  • Deutsche's U.S. team follows up on an overnight note from the firm's Japanese unit about iPhone production cuts by declaring Apple's (AAPL -2%) stock "has digested this supply chain issue and likely has lower unit production already priced in." Notable Calls is encouraged by this due to the track record of the analyst in question (presumably Chris Whitmore). Apple has bounced a little off its session lows. Cirrus Logic (CRUS -3.8%) and Skyworks (SWKS -2.9%) are faring worse. [View news story]
That was a thoughtful reply. Thanks. I'm sure you have just as much intelligent commentary on the lack of criticism. Are you short Apple or long Google?

Can anyone explain to me why the market believes a one trick pony like Google is worth more than $200 a share than Apple? What am I missing? And why so little analyst criticism of Google?

  • Hedge fund titan Leon Cooperman has been selling Apple (AAPL) but buying battered Freeport McMoRan (FCX), he tells CNBC. Cooperman holds FCX founder Jim Bob Moffett in high regard despite coming under fire from shareholders, but he's not keen on AAPL's reluctance to return cash to investors and warns the iPhone’s uniqueness may be diminishing. [View news story]
Must be cool to be referred to as a "Titan" even if your name is Leon. That said, why would anyone care, believe or give the slightest bit of brain power to pondering anything the head of a hedge fund has to say? Any time they say something publicly they're just trying to play the retail investor for their own gains.

  • As Apple (AAPL +2.7%) delivers another strong performance, Topeka's Brian White predicts the next iPhone will arrive in the May-June timeframe, and says checks indicate it will be offered in multiple screen sizes. Additional colors are also seen as a possibility. Steve Wozniak and others have been calling on Apple to offer a bigger iPhone, as the popularity of 4.5"+ Android devices such as Samsung's Galaxy S III contribute to its huge international share gains. References to a new iPhone are already turning up in Apple developer logs. [View news story]
The reason consumers buy Apple products and are loyal to them is the same reason people buy BMW's Audi's,Bang & Olufsen audio, etc. There will always be a market for people who prefer quality to junk and who are willing to pay for it. The stock is a reflection of the quality of the products and the huge consumer preference for reliable, beautifully engineered technology solutions. And by the way, with few, if no bugs and problems. Those of you who bash the products simply don't get it. There are products for people who want cheap, clunky rip-offs of Apple. They're called Android and Samsung. Enjoy you're cheap knock-offs. We'll stick with the best of breed in this category...Apple.

  • After closing on Friday near 10-month lows, Apple (AAPL +3.1%) is rallying in the absence of major news. Likely helping: a weekend Barron's column that made a bull case for the stock while suggesting much of the "fast money" that had joined the bandwagon is now gone. Also, year-end sales made for tax purposes might now be letting up. [View news story]
About time the short sellers give it up. You guys had your fun. No one is going to listen to the gloom scenarios, margin problems, Foxconn rumors and doom and gloom predictions of of share price below $300 any more. It's our turn.
