  • If Apple Isn't Investing In Apple, Should You? [View article]
This is really getting ridiculous. Is there a contest among analysts to see who can come up with the most absurd premise for a SA article before Apple earnings? If so, this is definitely in the running. What is Apple's R&D spend compared to its competitors? What is your point here?

Trolls should have to register on forums that deal with Apple articles. richbar is one of the easiest to recognize. I've actually grown quite fond of his dedication to delivering the same old boring message. Like ones old aunt who is paid in Tupperware to bad mouth kitchenAide products at WalMart. He is a dying breed. And he probably needs the money to make his trailer payments in Tampa. So let's be kind.

  • After closing on Friday near 10-month lows, Apple (AAPL +3.1%) is rallying in the absence of major news. Likely helping: a weekend Barron's column that made a bull case for the stock while suggesting much of the "fast money" that had joined the bandwagon is now gone. Also, year-end sales made for tax purposes might now be letting up. [View news story]
About time the short sellers give it up. You guys had your fun. No one is going to listen to the gloom scenarios, margin problems, Foxconn rumors and doom and gloom predictions of of share price below $300 any more. It's our turn.

  • Apple's Revenue By Region: There's More To The Company's Story [View article]
Google loses money on Android sales yet it is rewarded with an astronomical share price. Revenues from search are decreasing and Yahoo appears to be coming on as a better competitor, yet Google is showered with praise. Google's idea of innovation is to copy Apple with retail stores or steal ideas like Eric Schmidt's theft of Apple smartphone concept while on its board. Yet Google is seen as the new technology leader. Anyone who tries to apply rational thinking and logic to this market will get killed. Fundamentals are meaningless. But I believe Apple will be the winner intbe long run for patient investors.

  • Why Apple Is Still A Buy Even Though Amazon And Google Have Better Products [View article]
redponydoc- should be obvious that cnbc is a constant Apple brasher given Comcast relationship. CC is very aware of what is unfolding. That's why they unleash Melissa Lee, Cramer and good old Doug Kass. A better example that supports my case is how kids and younger adults consume content. My son and daughter don't have cable. The use Netflix, Pandora, Spotify, etc. to get their content. I also hear Apple is working on a very flexible, unbreakable and light weight screen. Word is they are manufacturing it in long, wide sheets. TV screen? Furthermore, many people know TC has been in talks with content providers. So don't be surprised by a Netflix, Pandora, etc. acquisition soon. That would be step one. Then hardware, user interface device would most likely be the phone or mini tablet and compatible TV all designed by Joni Ives. Once that's in place, simply a matter of converting Comcast and other cable subscribers to the New Apple media network. See you later cnbc. And, a new generation of content consumers who don't bother with content provided by the out of date cable companies. Again, the key here is that everyone has their heads up their butts thinking this is about Smartphone market share. Totally not. It's about capturing share of targeted eyeballs to distribute content across multiple connected devices and garner massive ad spend dollars and sales of content o. Demand supported by hardware sales as well. Once you get that, Apple and Job's strategy is crystal clear. Apple will have the last laugh.

  • Apple: Is Tim Cook The Next Steve Ballmer? [View article]
A couple of things now that you ask:

    - No matter what kind of epiphany you might have had about the similarities between Apple and MS and Ballmer and Cook, I find it a stretch of epic proportions to draw the comparison. I've worked with both companies and their cultures are completely different. Which is huge in terms of the long term success or failure of a company.
    - The last time I checked, Steve Jobs was still dead and Bill Gates is still alive.
    - I take issue with the timing of your article on a day when SA published a false and misleading alert about Apple and Foxconn. Just a coincidence? Only you and your publisher know for sure.
    - The headline: It smacks of the same yellow, smack down journalism being used against Apple to generate traffic and ghin up the bears and short sellers.
    - The point of your article: When you were thinking about something to write, was your first thought..."Gee, there are just too many positive articles about Apple lately. Maybe I can come up with something which really has no basis in fact or reality and completely irrelevant to the company's performance, total speculation and opinion, yet with a headline that sends the message of Apple's inevitable demise." And then of course you had your Eureka! moment.
Am I put off by the bearish sentiment, sure. Any Apple investor would be. But what is more irksome is that "journalists" hedge fund managers and other manipulators want to make the playing field a little less level for Apple and its investors. Today's SA alert was a post boy for that. And articles like this are just blatant piling on, an opportunity for writers to get their numbers up, take their marching orders from the powers that be, or both.
    Hopefully, I've made my point.

  • Why Apple Is Still A Buy Even Though Amazon And Google Have Better Products [View article]
Interesting article. That said, the fu ad mental mistake they most analysts, traders and associated pundits, you included, fail to see is that Apple is not in the tablet or smartphone business. They are in the content distribution business across a variety of mobile devices. Where is this going? I believe Apple will re-invent (content-hardware) TV along several vectors.

    1. The user interface. We all know the current multi remote version sucks. Expect Siri and a cool new TV
    2. Content on demand. Why should I pay Comcast for Home Shopping Channel and a bunch of other mindless crap I never watch? Apple will allow us to customize our content and we will pay for only what we want.
    3. If Apple knows what I like content wise they have a very good idea of what the demographics and psychographics of my household are. And that is a gold mine for Apple. The holy grail of advertising g is "right ad to the right person at the right time". Advertisers will pay a bloody fortune for this level of media efficiency. Apple could even offer to reduce pricing if he user chooses the brands and ads they wish to see. Now advertising becomes both meaningful and relevant.

So while many people are handwringing over shrinking margins and smart phone saturation, Apple is quietly getting ready to reinvent itself yet again. To your point, we are so short term focused on share price. As a result, we can't see the Apple trees for the forest of negative reports, short sellers and hedge fund criminals. Might be a good time to think about shorting Comcast instead of Apple for a change.
