BioScrip Investors Would Welcome a Strategic Buyer [View article]
User 265438 needs a 60 y/o grey beard to run his money. Either that or he's an older guy that blew up and now can't stand younger guys going out on their own. Last I chcedk, David Einhron, Pabrai, Ackman, Dan Loeb, etc didn't have long wall street careers before launching. Einhorn did 2 years at DLJ as an analyst which is lower than associate and then 1-2 years at a hedge fund before GL? Pabrai was a tech industry guy, Ackman did Gotham off the bat which liquidated. Loeb?
sclarksons - before you get on your knees for Ackman, you should realize the guy's previous hedge fund Gotham Partners liquidated. Course, you value guys will take any non-value fund to the woodshed if it liquidates but ignore it with your own.
Ackman's investors in his TGT fund have lost their asses too.
BRK will be destroyed when WEB kicks it. I know we allthink Ajit will do fine and whoever the Chief Inv Officer will be fine but I'd be WEB accounts for 50% BRK value, so let's see how others do operating a monster like BRK w/o WEB's genius.
It's because there's a bubble in value investing and has been for a few years and guys like Tilson know how to rope a dope. Can't make money running money so put some newsletters and conferences together and have these "trade shows" where for only $5k you too can meet your idol of choice and get them to autograph your HP 12-C!
Let's not forget the original ideas presented too. You either get moldy ideas that go nowhere like BRK or some idea the presenter doesn't know well and lose your shirt like Pzena, Pabrai, or Tom Brown.

A lot of dumb mfers own Apple apparently. You can put up one post on Seeking Alpha on Apple that has a picture of a mac and it would have 1000 comments. u have one well written analysis on some unknown co, nobody will read it. too funny.

I don't know, seems like Amir bought this in the low $3s based on when he started posting on bios. If you look back on his Jarden post he was talking about shorting Jarden in the $30s+. Up 25% from a multi year low aint much to get excited about, seems likeAmir is still up on that short. get back in your straight jacket, must be a palin fan.
Sarah Palin: Wall Street's Candidate [View article]
Palin should take over Lehman, she is a brilliant woman. She knows energy, Russia, and ran the largest state in the US. And McCain is a maverick, like 10% of the time he didn't vote along bush lines... Just kidding. I'm one of the few Americans who are not total dip sh!ts, which is like maybe 5% of this country. I'd love to work a trade and export all the religious freaks out and would even take 2 to 1 in terms of illegal aliens.
Bill Ackman's Letter to Paulson On Restructuring Plan [View article]
Ackman blew up when he was at Gotham Partners, hardly a genius, just a rich kid that had connections to get going a second time through Luecadia's help. No big deal, just the way the world works but before people think he's a genius, he imploded at his previous fund. It's like saying if Tom Brown starts a new fund and makes a few solid years of returns, will people herald him as a "genius?"

How can anyone defend Enron? The management team deserved what they got, yes Skilling is burning in hell where he belongs and Fastow is prob grabbing his ankles as he also deserves. They defrauded people of BILLIONS.
I do agree with Tom Brown, problem is there are too many wannabe shorts out there cause anyone can short anything and look like a genius in the current environment.

I enjoy Tom's contrarian take but my god, how many ZEROS has he invested in, hard to consider this guy an "expert." Would figure an expert would have had a long/short financial fund and recognized these problems. Not sure who is the bigger hack, Brown, Tilson, or Bill Miller...prob Bill Miller.
Financials and Housing: The Outlook Remains Ugly [View article]
Did Bill Ackman tell Whitney to write this? Tilson is a genius, how he gets investors into T2 when this guy just copies the work of his buddies is amazing. His "research" is lifting work from Amherst Sec or just echoing what Ackman, Einhorn, and his other real investor friends say and tries to get into that circle...

My point is that it appears you're retrofitting "analysis" after the stocks have completely blown up. You can actually say you presented a short case on CRZ at $3 when it was a $20 stock and when CRZ goes from $3 to $2, that means something? "Analyzing" FED at $15 when it dropped from $50s+ for months before? Your analysis isn't really doing anything but repeating what short sellers have established. MPG at $10 when it was a $30 stock??! What's your next recommednation, CROX as a short at $4? When it hits $2 you can add that to your list of successes too.

MPG fell, fell from $30 to $12 or so before you "exposed" it. Sort like how FED fell $40s+ to $15 BEFORE you "exposed" it.
I think i recommended Potash as a buy when it was at $150, up from single digits a few years ago, but it's now at $180 or so, guess I'm the next Buffett too.

I opened the 10-k and 10-q to come up with trailing EBITDA for MIR and DYN, the EV/EBITDA values are CORRECT on YAHOO FINANCE! Maybe CITI is wrong Freeman? wouldn't be the first time.
"open" EBITDA lol, intrinsic vaue, DCF lol, right so nobody can predict where energy prices will be but you use a DCF to value NRG...Someone sounds like he's talking out of his butthole here, look in the mirror Freeman. What bucket shop do u work for?
