That is true , but all vehicles under 10 , even 15 mpg need to cease and desist , unless you REALLY need one ...... sorry , but that's the world we live in now ...... If you really need to drive a huge SUV or a Hummer - fine , but too many times I see a single person constantly driving these gas guzzling monsters just to look cool ...... sorry but that's just wrong , and everyone will know why in about 15 -20 years ....... I do not like overkill and FORCING people to drive hybrids , but we should all just drive as efficient a vehicle as we can ....... I am a construction contractor , I drive an F-150 small V-8 , I need a full size truck , and I wanted a big V-8 for the muscle , but decided for economics and environment to get a small V-8 ...... not much better , but at least I tried to save fuel , and I do not drive a guzzler just to be cool .....although I could easily .....we all just need to try a little better , and then maybe the government won't end up forcing us all to drive matchboxes with batteries

I KNOW WHY owners manuals are never written by a native English speaker ...... because everything is made in China , including the owner's manuals !!!!!

30 years ago the Chinese had little experience manufacturing all the things they are now kicking our asses with ...... YOU are naive , not me ......... The Chinese would love to take our " unprofitable Hummer " , and turn it into a money-maker , a military vehicle , another propoganda tool , and there are a lot of wealthy Chinese that will drive them as a status symbol to say " F-U American idiots , look what we did " ...... however , yes , I agree , most likely the Chinese will improve gas mileage ..... nevertheless , the Hummer is now a Chinese status symbol , just like it was a status symbol here ...... They WILL produce it , and we will watch ........personally , it made me puke to see soccer moms driving around town in a damn Hummer .... a 6mpg military vehicle , just so you can look cool , while the Earth cooks ....... arrogant excessive selfishness at it's worst IMHO ........ and if you are one of those that thinks global warming is a hoax ???? Come back here in 15 years and tell me what you think when 50% of the world's polar caps are melted ...... I'll be here waiting

and now we have the absolute demise of the environment , the Chinese will make the hummer cheaper , sales will boom , and a billion Chinese will be driving 6mpg Hummers instead of bicycles ...Oil will be $300 a barrel by 2012 ... easy ...... and now you know why we are doomed , and humans will NEVER save this planet ..... we are too selfish and stupid ....... Hummers should be banned except for military use ........ This planet will be an oven in 25 years ...... I guarantee it ..... I don't need scientific proof 6.5 Billion people are affecting this planet ..... That should be obvious to anyone with a brain ....... and wait until the population hits 10 Billion - you ain't seen nothin' yet !!!!!! ...... So now GM builds hybrids , and China builds Hummers ...... There's a frickin' retarded scenario for ya ..... A Hummer will soon be cheaper than a Toyota Corrolla !!!!!! Oh Boy !!!
'Speculators' Are Starting to Avoid Companies with Legacy Costs [View article]
Here's the future , embrace it or die of starvation .... American companies can no longer afford business models designed in the prosperous 1950's , where everyone gets a fat check , 60 days paid vacation , total health coverage , 20 years of pension checks for retirement , and the CEO's get bonuses for being fired !!!!! We are now competing with the world like never before ..... and it's going to be " get paid when you work " , and you get zilch to sit on your ass or play on the computer ..... That's just the way it is now , and it's suffer a little now , or a LOT later ........ Having said all that , the government needs to get a good Health system going , part private pay , part tax subsidized ( and NO , not RUN by the government ) .... and we need to ENSURE social security stays solvent ...... We are all free to save for retirement , and social security just needs to be a decent , basic , insurance , so old people are not totally poor and destitute ...... If you're worth $500,000 at age 65 ????? NO SOUP FOR YOU !!!!!!
The 'New' GM: Too Much Like the Old GM [View article]
Marky61 - agreed 100% ..... we need a national health pool , where everyone buys into the same system .....partly subsidized , and partly private pay ...... with SOME government oversight to prevent fraud , but NOT government managed ......Everyone in this country should be able to get reasonable health care for 75 bucks a month premium ( maybe 200 for a family of 4 - If ya have 7 kids then tough crap , you pay 400 a month - you have no business having 7 kids when the world population is exploding ) ..... We just need an affordable , reasonable system , that is not full of loopholes to avoid paying the doctor bills ...... It is a joke to collect premiums , and then find a loophole not to pay up ...... and there are many such loopholes ....THAT is the tragedy of our system ...people WITH insurance get screwed !!!!!! ....... In the new system , EVERYTHING should be covered , and if you need health care you will owe a reasonable deductible ( to prevent frivolous doctor visits ) AND , you will owe ALL back premiums you have failed to pay in ....... That is your out of pocket expense ...... The goal is to prevent financial ruin if you need major health care ...... but I do not subscribe to some sort of government run free health care system paid purely with tax dollars ...
The 'New' GM: Too Much Like the Old GM [View article]
I am a remodeling contractor , when I work I make about 25 dollars an hour , when I don't work I make nothing ..... No one provides my health care , I have to buy it , I am relying on Social Security and my savings for retirement .... I get 0 paid vacations and holidays per year .....If I am out of work , there is no one that makes sure I get paid to sit on my ass .... No one matches my year end income taxes or Social Security witholdings , I pay the full amount myself ..... I work out in the heat , and I work out in the cold ... I do not have a comfy break room with a TV and snack machines .... I do not get mandatory breaks every hour , and I do not get paid medical leave if I cut my finger ....... American workers - Welcome to my world , it will be your world soon ...... Suffer a little now , or a lot later .......and P.S. - Upper management and CEO's ???? Time for YOU to lead by example , and share in the experience ..... An Honorable General leads from the front , not the rear .............
The 'New' GM: Too Much Like the Old GM [View article]
The new American business model will be , hopefully a decent wage when you are at work ... but all the perks and benefits ( basically paying you not to work ) will end ..... it's inevitable .....America is now in stiff competition with the world , and unfortunately that means our lifestyle will decline , while the rest of the world's improves , until finally we meet in the middle , and the playing field is somewhat leveled ...... There is a huge untapped market for a basic , simple , affordable , quality car that gets decent gas mileage .... Yet GM's grand plan is a Hybrid Escalade that costs 75,000 dollars ...... and our government needs to shore up social security and create one huge health care pool that all Americans can buy into ....reasonable premiums , and a health care program that is not full of loopholes to avoid payment when needed ....partly guv subsidized , and partly private pay .....but not RUN by the government .... and we can do without all the complicated safety regulations , electronics , and wall to wall airbags in cars that adds thousands of dollars to the sticker price ........ Just like some people only want a cellphone and not a portable computer / TV / camera / fax machine , some people just want a car , and not a spaceship !!!!! As for me , you can keep your airbags for 3,000 dollars , and I am fine with seatbelts , and I don't need ABS brakes , or a car to think for me ......I am still capable of making my own decisions
Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
GM will be fine - Just as soon as everyone goes out and buys a 75,000 dollar Hybrid Escalade on credit .....P.S. - Be sure to keep an extra 5,000 dollars on hand , because you will have to buy new batteries in 3 years .....but hey look at the bright side ....you will get an extra 5 miles per gallon and save the world !!!!!
Electric , or Hybrid autos are going to turn out to be the biggest fiasco ever imagined ........ we do not need electric cars , we simply need better fuel efficient cars ....... electric cars cost a fortune , the batteries cost a fortune ( to be replaced every 5 years ) , and electricity does not fall from trees , it comes from power plants that are already over-taxed just providing electricity for our homes ....... also , have you ever seen the disposal warning on your cell phone battery ????? Now multiply that by a billion !!!!! The solution is for autos to be fuel efficient , and once a massive build up of clean burning power plants ( nuclear , natural gas , solar , wind ) ... THEN we can consider electric cars as an alternative ............ we could do just fine if people would try to drive as fuel efficient auto as possible for their needs ......... a single soccer mom guzzling around in a Hummer is rediculous ....... we are talking 8 mpg !!!!! geesh ...... you can easily find a sport utility that at least gets 18 mpg ........ that's all we need to do , and we would be fine ......... until the population doubles !!!! But that's for another thread ......... however , over-population happens to be the biggest threat the world has ever seen ...... Yet no one seems to mention it
s162 - today Siri had a miilion share volume at the end of the day ..... yet budged not one penny .......... is that the Achilles last stand you mentioned above ????? personally , I am totally dumbfounded at a million shares doing nothing to the price ....... oh maybe it moved a couple of 100ths of a cent ......... anyway , sure has me baffled ............. I am not knocking or praising , I am just really ignorant on this manipulation business ........... I suppose what happened was a large buy volume , and the banks threw a ton of shares on the buys to keep the .14 cents from moving
Auto Sales: Good News on the Horizon? [View article]
I personally think any TV advertising money could be better spent on top notch retail displays in stores ...............million... of people shop at Best Buy , Walmart , Radio Shack etc etc
Who needs to advertise on TV , when all you have to do is catch those people already there with a smokin' retail demo / display Siri stand
You could have a demo video right there in the store , for millions of people to see , and not pay a dime for outrageous TV spots ..........10 million bucks for 30 seconds ???? screw that
MEL !!!!! GET THOSE RETAIL DISPLAYS IN ORDER NOW !!!!!!!
Auto Sales: Good News on the Horizon? [View article]
Changing Retail / Distibution companies might turn out to be a good move , because I have been very disappointed with retail displays for years now ........sometimes they do not work , the radios are not even connected , or the salespeople in the store know very little about the product
I have NEVER , EVER , seen anyone checking out the satrads at the retail display .................siriu... ........not once ..........and I remember a couple of times when I was checking it out , nothing even worked !!!!!!! Christmas is coming , and the retail displays had better work properly , and be user friendly ..................
Who's gonna buy a radio / subscription , if the damn display is not working ????? They're gonna think , " Hmmmm , this company can't even get the damn demo to work "
So maybe Siri has found a better company for retail / distribution / demo purposes ..........Hope so because I think this is a critical issue with the company
