I agree completly with this article and have been following this company as well. I think you may be more knowledgable on the subject than myself. What do you think of the possibility of a buyout of this firm? At a market cap of ~72million (net of cash, only 58), with valuble patents related to the laser technology and a price-to-sales ratio of just 1 for a potentially very high growth firm, it would seem possible.

I heard rumor at one point that if Alesco de-reited they would be liable for some large sum of cash. Not sure why or if this is unfounded. Any idea? Would they become liable for taxes in 2008, is this why? I havn't a clue.

I agree with the other comment. VMW trades at a PE of 103, and has short interest of 35%. Investors think that it's overvalued, clearly. You can't just subtract the market cap of VMW, because clearly, it could not be sold at that price. Not too many private equity would like to pay 100x earnings.
