It would be an even stronger suggestion that you check your data. See the NY Times Op-ed from the AIG employee Jake DeSantis who resigned. The real criminals (superstars) are long gone from AIG and all you are doing here is punishing the ones trying to fix the mess.

Encouraging bad behavior?? Pleassseeee! Lets do away with umemployment benefits then, so those people can go get jobs, lets do away with all government subsidies so people and companies can stand on their own merit. At least the AIG people were working for a living when they got their bonuses, and if they are not good workers, then they should have been fired instead of retained with a bonus. Now with Congress playing games and spending other people's money, don't even get me started on that one!! As I said earlier, everyone who has a mortgage, owns credit cards, has an auto loan is using someone else's money to live a better life.

Its always someone else's money with a bank. Thats how you got to live in the house you are living in, and how your parents got to move out into the suburbs 40-50 years ago. Its also how you and your parents got a car loan. It was all someone elses money, so understand it and give it a rest.

Eliminate Naked Short selling, re-institute the uptick rule, and modify or suspend the mark to market accounting, these are things that would be great for the market and should be put into place tomorrow. Unfortunately, this current Obama administration is both clueless, and even worse, gutless. They can't even stand up to Nancy Pelosi! Its a shame, but don't expect any changes anytime soon.

However, given this administration, they seem both clueless and even worse, gutless. Don't expect anything to be done anytime soon. Its a shame.

I agree gtmcduffy - That way, congress wouldn't do really stupid things like limiting the pay of the top bank executives. In this country, people are most responsible for themselves and their families. Why work 50-60 hours and only get paid a fraction of what you are worth? Who would blame them if they all walked away and got higher paying jobs elsewhere. Maybe some of them were to blame for this financial mess, but the congress and others were to blame also. No talent left in the banks is another reason to short these stocks!

Cockeyed - Sometimes the government just doesn't know what is best, or sometimes they just answer to their constituencies. They don't take pleasure, they just don't seem to care unless its best for them. If they were doing the right thing, why haven't they suspended mark to market already? Just remember, Obama has ZERO executive experience so don't expect a great decision maker anytime soon.

Come on guys, we should be discussing SIRI and its downfall again. Not why George Bush has become one of the best Presidents by avoiding another catastrophy on American soil, keeping our country and citizens safe since 9/11, and keeping the terrorists on the defensive and on the run. I go into airports, stadiums and malls and feel safe to do it, thanks GWB! Hey what about the democratic congress you ask, they had us protected well! NOT!! While the warning signs may have been there for oil and the housing bust, the congress was busy doing more important work, tackling Major League Baseball and Roger Clemens! LOL

sl62, so what is the point of investing in SIRI if its just going to be kept at .99-1.00? I don't like a stock that should be 1.20 and is only at 1.00. After the market goes up so much, you lose money on a stock that just stays still.

You have to be crazy to still own this stock. We have been waiting for everything that has been posted here to occur, and it has, and look at where we are now. The posters on here said when the stock was $2.20, don't give in to the shorts, then again at $1.50, then at 1.30, and so on. The DOJ, the merger, and finally our savior Mel have done nothing but cause the downward spiral. The only issue now is that with huge losses, how do I get my tax savings? At a limit of $3000 per years deduction, it is going to take me many many years to recoup that. Any good ideas this time?

cos1000 - I am not drinking the kool aid. I, like so many others, just believed the pundits that the 2 companies when merged would be better than just one. Its a great product too. Unfortunately, I got into something with shorts, naked shorts, and other stuff that I didn't understand. It just didn't seem to be that complicated and lots of people, including Tyler and Cramer, broke it down very well and made it sound like a good bet. Now I am way down with an average cost around $2.90 so I am kind of stuck without an understanding of which way to go. It makes sense to hold but my gut feeling says this stock is in for another rough week.

relmor - I think I understand that the shorts new they could cover with the 250 million new shares being put out there. What I don't understand was that I though the new shares were being sold at $1.50 per share. How then does it make sense to short the stock down this low ($1.30)?
You seem to have more inside knowledge about stocks and how the system works than most on here. Any idea when the end game comes? This week? This month? This year? What range do you think it will go to?

Everyone - This is not Tyler's fault. He was just one of many who endorsed the idea that the stock would get a bounce once the FCC approved the merger. Cramer was much more vocal saying the stock, when it was around $2.90, would as much as double on the news. All of the pundits made sense except for Weinke from GS. Even GS was wrong, since they had a $1.75 value post-merger. Its now closing in on $1.25. The stock is a dud. I have no idea who is buying and who is selling anymore. We need to stop drinking the kool-aid. I am just looking for suggestions on the best way to move forward as the stock continues to move lower.

Market up 194, SIRI down .02. Same old stuff, different day. If I didn't have so much invested in this, I would have been rid of this stock already. The advise I took on buying this I thought was sound. From Cramer to Tyler and numerous other analysts opinions, this stock was ready for a bounce upon the merger approval. Only GS said otherwise, and they were right. I had no intentions of owning this garbage for years, like many others. I had held it long enough, just waiting for a good time to sell. Unfortunately, it went down too much too fast and now I am stuck. I am not trying to complain, I am just trying to make everyone understand what alot of us are feeling.

Ok, lets see now, we have had the following:
1. DOJ approval
2. FCC approval
3. A merger take place
4. Shorts have to cover by last Tuesday
5. Better than expected results by $.01
6. Announced $400 million in synergy savings

Ok, where is the bounce/pop/anything? Why is this stock still near its all time low, less than the pre-merger amount, and way less than the price 1 1/2 years ago before the merger was even considered? Any ideas?
