Radio Is Doomed - Tear Down the Broadcast Towers [View article]
Can we get on with this already? Sirius should get out of this insane merger and go it alone now! They don't need XM's debt, they don't need the FCC, they need to hook up with the IPOD and every other devise out there in technology land, and they don't need to share the spectrum or anything else they own, and it would be nice to see Sirius and XM survive and wipe out regular radio. This way, the corrupt polititions get nothing. It would be a victory for Sirius and hopefully for XM to in the long run. As for the stock prices, they were higher years ago before the merger was announced, and with some help from other technologies, they will get back to those higher levels again.

I think what the "I told you this stock was bad" people are forgetting is that those who bought the stock did it on very good advise. Tyler, Cramer, and many analysts all came out for Sirius, emphasizing the synergies and other factors in favor of the merger. Maybe you can't trust them, but then, when the leader of the FCC, Kevin Martin, comes out repeatedly and says there will be a vote by the end of the year 2007, 1st quarter, and now 2nd quarter, you SHOULD be able to trust a high ranking government official. If that is not enough to give you the courage to buy the stock, then add to it all the Dept of Justice approving the merger. All that combines to a strong buy in my opinion. I still am not sure what drives this stock lower all the time and down to $1.84 per share, maybe its GS, before it was the Georgetown Partners holding everything up, so we thought, but it seems like its just best to take the vote and let the chips fall. Sirius will come out fine in the long run either way.

To ask a question at this point, Why would Sirius want to go throught with the merger? Take it off the table and beat XM into the ground. Therefore, no concessions to the worthless FCC, no additional debt load from XM, and then sign Oprah and MLB to better contracts in a year or so, when XM folds.
I would rather Sirius take it off the table now, but if now, just have the FCC vote up or down today, and lose. If necessary, Sirius can find a buyer as has been discussed here in the future. Certainly, XM will be bought by Clear Channel or someone and approved by the FCC in record time! Oh well, here goes Oprah!
