  • Financial Stocks: Playing the Mark-to-Market Suspension [View article]
I agree gtmcduffy - That way, congress wouldn't do really stupid things like limiting the pay of the top bank executives. In this country, people are most responsible for themselves and their families. Why work 50-60 hours and only get paid a fraction of what you are worth? Who would blame them if they all walked away and got higher paying jobs elsewhere. Maybe some of them were to blame for this financial mess, but the congress and others were to blame also. No talent left in the banks is another reason to short these stocks!

Cockeyed - Sometimes the government just doesn't know what is best, or sometimes they just answer to their constituencies. They don't take pleasure, they just don't seem to care unless its best for them. If they were doing the right thing, why haven't they suspended mark to market already? Just remember, Obama has ZERO executive experience so don't expect a great decision maker anytime soon.

No fear of shorts here either. Obama and Geitner are gutless and are scared to make real change. Obama has already discovered that campaigning was alot easier than governing. He gave up the stimulas package to the house Democrats and Geitner is indecisive. Mark to market is safe for 4 years with the lack of leaders we now have in Washington.
