The material in your bag of fertilizer is KCl, but its potassium content is expressed by its chemical equivalent of K2O.
Sometimes, you can get K2SO4--a different material.
Similarly, diammonium phosphate contains ammonia and phosphate, but is expressed by its chemical equivalents of N and P2O5.
There are many other materials that contain ammonia and/or phosphate.
